Re: More workplace violence at Fort Hood, Texas
Even NBC news is reporting the following: "Lopez (the shooter) was carrying his semi-automatic weapon in a parking lot when confronted by the female officer, Fort Hood’s commanding officer told reporters. "He was approaching her at about 20 feet. He put his hands up, then reached under his...

Re: FSA performs beat-down on C'ville downtown Mall
Great Story,
Obviously a gun isn't the answer, it's just a tool in the toolbox at your disposal.
Nice job applying the training I received flying in the USAF: Maintain control, assess the situation, take proper action.
Well done.

I think I could possibly have enough ammo....
With prices falling so fast recently and availability all over the place, I hate to say I might have enough ammo. Isn't that terrible?

Re: School me: Mosin 54R
Justincase, We have a Mosin and they are a hoot to shoot. The kick is a real punch in the shoulder and it's really loud. But still really fun. School me on what would I do with it? - Shoot paper bad guys, soda cans, tannerite targets, pumpkins, whatever you want shredded. How will it serve me? I can...

Re: Anyone been to the LDS warehouse in MD or VA?
I can tell you that I've been to the LDS cannery just off the beltway in MD. The canneries have several purposes. First they exist to help members of our church in need. They can visit the "store" portion of the cannery with authorization from their local bishop to pickup some groceries to...

I've been using my DeSantis Insider since Dec '12. It's great. Great retention, holds the shield down deep and minimizes printing to almost nothing. Loveit.

"Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty."

Re: A Place To Tell Jokes
So this Navy Master Chief retires after 35 years of service. He was great with his hands and could fix anything and had a pretty good shop set up in his garage. He thought that might keep him busy during retirement years, but it didn't. So he walks into a pet store looking for a pet to provide some ...

Re: Non-Lethal Options
I also agree with gunderwood and his thoughts. "Less than lethal" weapons pose a significant challenge to military and law abiding citizens. Like many others here, I think our personal defense amounts to escalating choices and scenarios. If we can walk away from a bad situation, we should....

Three scenarios to talk about
I think scenario discussions are great training tools. Here are three scenarios that I have been thinking about, I'm very new to CC, and would like to hear some opinions: 1. You are at the mall with your wife, (legally CC, in a mall that permits) looking at clothes in Eddie Bauer. You hear gunshots ...

New Stafford Member
Hello VGOF, I've been following this site for a few weeks and I wanted to post, so here's a quick intro. I'm a Pilot in the Air Force, flew C-17's(cargo) and C-40's (VIP plane) for a while. I'm stationed at the Pentagon. My son and I rented a Glock 17 at the local range, and that was the spark for m...
