Opinions Please - IWB Holster Ideas for M&P Shield

Post by classpays7 »

I'm new here...and was hoping to get some input on holster ideas/suggestions for my new M&P Shield. So far, I've read/heard that the SuperTuck may be the best way to go. I'm an average height (5'5"), average weight female; and my job is pretty physically active...in and out of trucks/vehicles all day, etc. Right now I carry a full size 1911 in my purse, but am going to make the transition to carrying my new S&W on my body at all times.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I got a Crossbread Supertuck for my Shield about a month ago and absolutely love it!! It is very comfortable and I wear it everywhere and from the time I wake up until bed time. I have the horse hide and it squeeked a little at first but all is god now. I would highly recommend.

I've been using my IWB holster from Custom Kydex in Chester, VA (YoungGunVA on the forum) for the last few months now after looking at the other guys. Love it and I'd get another!

I've been using my DeSantis Insider since Dec '12. It's great. Great retention, holds the shield down deep and minimizes printing to almost nothing. Loveit.

If your looking for your 1st holster; be sure and check out the different designs available and the most important features you want. In addition to complete concealment, its most important for me to be comfortable in the sitting position. The Stealth Defense Strut Holster is specially designed for this and works great for me all day.

Check out Raven Concealment. They make great OWB, IWB and appendix IWB holsters.

As stated above (thanks for the shoutout shotgun!) I am a kydex holster maker so if you decide to go that route I could definitely set you up with a rig. Check us out on facebook (ThinkFast Holsters) or shoot me an email if you have any questions!

Are you able to make OWB holsters with clips instead of belt loops?

shoot me an email and describe what you mean by clips VS. loops? I think what you are saying is a clip that allows you to slip the holster on and off without having to remove your belt and weave it through the loops. is that right?

That is correct. If you do, let me know how to order. Thanks.

My wife is petite, and she uses the Supertuck for the M&P Shield. You may want to look at the other clip options as a woman.

Pretty fond of my comp-tac minotaur MTAC. They have other options also. I find it really comfortable and very adjustable. Usually carried @4 o'clock position.

I have to admit, I also have become very partial to my MTAC Minotaur. It's just a fantastic hybrid.
