C&R Dealers in NOVA
Hi, all. I've recently switched my focus to collecting C&R firearms, particularly military surplus. What C&R dealers are there in Northern Virginia? I'm familiar with David Condon, CS Arms, and Cabela's. I also obviously keep an eye on this site and VA Gun Trader. What else is in the area? T...

Visit to San Francisco
I just wrapped up a business trip to San Francisco. I saw a guy on an elevator at my hotel wearing a Glock hat--something quite unexpected around there. Here's how the conversation went: Me: “Nice hat.” Him: “Oh, this?” Me: “Yes, that’s something you don’t see in San Francisco.” Him: “I guess it’s p...

Re: Family Shooting Activities
Thank you for the replies. I'll continue my research about local clubs. I'll consider the Hagerstown idea, but favor options closer to home. The NRA's website provides contacts for people who can offer information about competitive shooting leagues.

Family Shooting Activities
Hi, my 12-year-old son and I enjoy shooting together. He's a great shot and, for a guy his age, he can handle a 12 gauge, 9mm handgun, or .30 caliber rifle very well. We live in Loudoun County and go to Silver Eagle Group and Bull Run. What organized shooting leagues are available that we could do t...

Re: Liberty: Two days and counting
All I know is that NOTHING could stop me from voting on Tuesday. I can't wait to do my part to help get our country back on track. I also plan to bring my kids so that they can get a good lesson in citizenship and grow up to be responsible voters. I'm more passionate about this election than any oth...

1911 Recommendation
It's about time that I buy a 1911 and I would appreciate some input. I am looking to enjoy it for target practice at the range and to learn how a 1911 is designed and shoots. Like all of my guns, this will be a working gun that will get plenty of range time! My budget is about $800 to $1,200. I am l...

Re: Gun Bashes
I went to the Showell gun bash with my father in the spring. It's near Ocean City. A $45 ticket bought unlimited food and drink all day and an entry in every drawing. It was a heck of a lot of fun--and a great father/son bonding experience. The next Showell gun bash is October 1st. Check out http://...

Gun Bashes
I hope that Irene wasn't too tough on my fellow Virginians in this forum. I recently learned about gun bashes. They're annual or semi-annual events that fire departments hold as fund raisers that feature food and drink, as well as regular drawings throughout the day (typically 15 minutes) where fire...

How often do you go to the range?
It has been interesting to see all of the replies to this topic. I fortunately live about five minutes from my range. I shoot as often as I can and go about once a week. I sometimes even drop in for a few minutes when my wife sends me on a grocery errand.

How NOT to Teach A CCW Course!
That's shocking. He must know better. It shows that you can't ever take for granted that someone understands and practices gun safety--even if they're an NRA instructor. I wouldn't want to have him in the lane next to me at the range.

Thanks for all the guidance. I agree with your practical approach. Most of all, I look forward to shooting. All of my guns are working guns and this one will definitely get a workout of its own!

Re: Scope for Browning BAR .243
Thanks to you both for the comments. You've helped to validate that I'm on the right track. Gunderwood, I appreciate your thoughts regarding scope rings. There's no base on the rifle, so I'll need that too. In addition to a base and scope rings, looking at scope mounting videos on Youtube has given ...

Scope for Browning BAR .243
My father won a new Browning BAR .243 at a gun bash last weekend and he's letting me have it for a modest amount of money (really cool dad ). I'm experienced with shotguns and handguns, but this is my first rifle. I would appreciate some guidance regarding selecting a scope. To start off, I'll...

Re: Questions about Bull Run Shooting Center
Definitely give them a call. I am aware that they have restrictions, but don't remember the details. They definitely have a minimum barrel length requirement, which I think is 26 inches. Also, I don't believe they allow 10 gauge. Double barrel, pump, and semi-auto are all fine. There is no magazine ...

Supporting Arizona
I was wondering how I could buy Arizona goods and services to help counter the boycott and show support for Arizona's right to protect itself from illegal immigration. I found http://www.buycottarizona.comand it's a very helpful resource. Just passing it along!
