Re: .223/5.56 rifle that shoots STEEL case ammo?

Maybe we should flip this around and ask members on here which guns did not handle the steel ammo well? I know I have shot a fair amount of Steel mixed with brass case ammo through my Bushmaster AR, and never had an issue. To keep cost down, I usually mix a few boxes of each brass and steel together...

Re: Are you cutting back on your training w/ammo costs?

I have certainly cut back, because I only have so much ammo and I do not want to shoot most of it, and discover that I cannot replace it. I was interested in a Law Enforcement NRA training course in June. Students have to supply their own ammo for the class. You need 900 rounds of handgun ammo and 1...

Nice gun! Where is that range? I am up here in Woodbridge Virginia and we do not have any long ranges around here! That looks like a sweet place to shoot!

Re: Maryland HB 9 - CCW Reciprocity

Even though I honestly hope this bill does pass, I would caution people with out of state permits and residency traveling through MD, even if the bill is passed, that many of the police officers in that state are NOT friendly and could possibly charge you with other related offenses that are not cov...

Re: Burning the Koran...

The messages that I saw concerning both the mosque at Ground Zero and the preacher buring the Koran were this: The muslims kept screaming that ALL muslims should not be grouped together with the few that are Islamic extremists (AKA terrorists), and that they were peaceful and want to reach out in fe...

Re: Mosque approved to be built 2 blocks from Ground Zero

I would like to add just a few points to this discussion. First, this comes from a purely factual and studied view, and I am more nuetral than most, because I am basically agnostic in my beliefs. I believe in a God/ Creator, but I often reject forms of organized religions which all claim to be corre...

Re: Drivers in Stafford argue; one charged

The world is full of mentally unstable people. That was pretty stupid of the second man (slow driver) to pull over to the shoulder to participate in the ongoing arguement/fight with this idiot. It is very hard to describe to a judge/police officer, etc that you were fearful when you voluntarily pull...

Re: Beware of Virginia Law on Firearms!

Meangene, Good posting. I would like to add my 2 cents. There are a number of factors involved in the decision to draw and fire a weapon. Everyone is different and in a different situation. If a 100 lb female is confronted by a 200 lb drunk man, making threats, she will probably be justified in pull...

Re: Do You Worry About the Aftermath of a Self-Defense Shooting?

Obviously anyone interested in using this service/orgnaization should contact them and ask some questions before they send them the $85.00, but at least on the surface I would say that it is not a bad idea. Here are my thoughts: For $85.00 a year, if your involved in an incident and have to defend y...

Hey, good posting Jim! Keep up the good work. I am also a former police officer from Washington DC. The scenarios that this student spoke about sound very familar to the ones we had to discuss in L.E. training. I did not read the Wash Post article, but I am sure the author was anti-gun before your c...

Re: A question regarding "brandishing"

Very confusing, especially in light of what gregj just posted. VA is a legal open carry jurisdiction, so gun owners may legally open carry their firearms. Next, if someone applies and is approved for a permit to conceal carry their firearm, they may walk around with their firearm concealed from publ...

Re: Are they illiterate, or just dense?

There are many things which in my opinion the Constitution has wrongly been used to protect in our country, but this may not be one of them. I also see no reason why this practice should not continue to be allowed. First, as I understand it, the display of this Nativity scene has been somewhat of a ...

Re: Judge rules against America and Arizona

Another observation I made from watching the news coverage of the AZ protests was that several hispanic protesters in the crowd were carrying American flags. That was interesting to me, and caught my eye, because most of the hispanics and latinos that I have personally seen driving cars or out in pu...

Re: Judge rules against America and Arizona

I think the best arguement in support of the need for this Arizona law came from a news reporter immediately after the judges decision. He reported on the news that he had just spoken to someone in the crowd of demonstrators in Arizona, who identified himself as 'an illegal alien', and told the repo...

Re: Family photo

Funny how places like Prince Georges County MD, Baltimore, and Washington DC with the the most strict gun control laws have the highest number of gun related offenses over places like VA where gun ownership and gun carry laws are more permissible. I should not admit to this, but I used to live in Ma...

Re: Americans angry about paying for Illegal sex.

People have made some very good points in this thread. Welfare was created and should still be used to get people back on their feet and help feed them while they look for new employment. This purpose was lost a long time ago in this country. We have a large percentage of people collecting welfare t...

Re: Americans angry about paying for Illegal sex.

I made an observation over the weekend. Almost everywhere I went this weekend all over Northern VA, I saw 'Help Wanted' and 'Hiring' signs in windows. From stores to restaurants, a lot of places were trying to give people jobs. So how is the unemployment numbers so high when places are advertising f...
