Prohibited things Shoot a rifle or pistol at wild birds or animals on or over the public inland waters of the state. However, licensed trappers may shoot a .22 caliber rimfire rifle or pistol on or over public inland waters for the purpose of dispatching trapped animals. Carry a loaded rifle or pist...

Re: Senate Committee and Post Office Carry

There was a court ruling a few years back where the post office parking lot was considered part of the official post office and weapons could be banned. If the lot is private or public but not owned by the post office then you can have your gun in your vehicle. There was a recent case in Colorado wh...

The Beltman make a good belt. You might be able to find similar quality bull hide belts for a little less other places, but not much less for the same quality.

Re: What makes people this stupid?

wattsupwiththat.com is an excellent site for climate discussions from the skeptical side. I looked into the VA temperature numbers and the state itself has not warmed since 1930s which is when most of thetemperatuure recording stations were set-up. Some data from before that but very limited. The US...

Re: New to Hampton Roads and Virginia

Welcome to VA, I think Lafayette may be the only club with combat style shooting on the Penisnula, but there might be some on the south side. I do not shoot USPSA, but it may allow outside shooters, some of the club activities do. If you can find a member that participates you may be to go with them...

Re: Carry Permit

There is no residency time requirement, although it is more practical to apply after you have your new DL issued.

Procedures vary a bit from city to county so check with your local court for their exact requirements.

Re: Rifle transfer question...

Do we have to go to an FFL in Maryland to do the transfer for his rifle, then go to another FFL in Virginia for mine? That is correct. The Maryland FFL will ship to the VA FFL of your choosing. Each FFL will charge a fee for their services, plus shipping. You will fill out the necessary background ...

Re: where to buy ammo in VA?

http://www.ammoengine.com/find/ammo/.40_S&W and http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/40sw/ List online sites that have ammo in stock. It is legal to order online in VA, most places will require proof of identity before shipping and most will ship with adult signature required. Since ammo is heavy the ship...

Re: Zimmerman Trial: Tired of media bias? See gun-friendly legal

Thanks for the update on the trial.

One thing I notices is the gun lock was placed through the barrel of the gun. I thought they were supposed to go through the action and out the magazine hole.

Re: Why so much gun violence by kids?

Before talking about the increase in gun violence among kids, first you must show there has been an increase. I do not know one way or another on the this issue, but for many of the gun violence categories highlighted as a crisis by the press there has actually been decreases in recent years.

Whole house generators are nice to have, if you have natural gas hook up or propane for heat they can run off that. With natural gas you are still reliant on the gas company, but they seem to have much less issues in VA disasters than the power, phone, cable or water companies. The generators themse...

Re: Midway USA has 9mm luger in stock

Have a friend with a new 9mm and nothing to put in it. After S&H its $20 per 50 rnds, which is higher than Walmart, if you have the time to haunt the gun counter, but less than the LGS, his one and only box ran him $28/50. It was the only box the store had. I picked one up and will sell to him a...

Re: Hunting license as competency proof?

The hunting course is free and qualifies as training for the CHP. Drawback is it takes 9 hours and I am not sure how often it is offered. Many gun stores, shooting ranges, gun shows, offer training sufficient to get the CHP. If you are a former member of the armed forces with a honorable discharge, ...

The application has to be signed, notarized or witnessed by the clerk, when turned in, but after 45 days you would need to get the clerk to certify the application and I assume give you a copy, I never got a copy of mine just turned it in, and thankfully not being in Radford it was handled efficientl...

Re: Real Life Incident - What would you do?

The VA standards are that in cases of mutual combat the standard for justified use of force is much higher than if you are an innocent. I am not sure just giving him the finger back would qualify as mutual combat, but when carrying it is wise to not get argumentative. Pulling a gun in that situation...

Re: World's First 3-D Printed Gun

During the test shoot the test with a .380 round did fine then they shot a higher power round and blew up the gun. My question, besides the issue of spending a lot of money to buy a 3D printer to make a single shot gun, how much liability is this company going to end up with? If a prohibited person ...

Re: I used to think Virginia was pro 2A

VA is real friendly for purchase and ownership but not so good for shooting. Things have been slowly changing, There has been some efforts to get the state to change how it does background checks, but nothing has passed so far. I have not heard of any efforts to repeal the assault weapons ban in the...
