Re: How do you sharpen at home and in the field?
I use a multi-stone and finish with Arkansas hone stone at home, with various ceramic sticks, including a Dexter 3 stick sharpener for touchup. Usually have a small diamond hone when out in the field. A trick I've used a lot while out and about involves raiding the kitchen and looking for ceramic pl...

Peacemaker National Training Center is just up the road, west of Inwood. It's open as weather permits during the winter, but it's an amazing facility:

Acorns shoot there Sunday mornings. They shoot high end .22 target rifles. Nothing on the NRA calendar for Saturday mornings, though. You can see it here:

Re: 'New" Safety Bullet - not a snap cap
Got it. A thread hijack, one where you get on your high horse should someone return to the topic at hand. For the record I'm not a fan of casual gun handling by kids, though I think pointing a firearm at someone and pulling the trigger is far more than a youthful indiscretion. And this sidetrack doe...

And this would have been prevented with a Safety Bullet instead of an unloaded firearm just how?

Re: 'New" Safety Bullet - not a snap cap
Somehow I suspect that the folks who keep a loaded pistol in the nightstand or under the sofa cushion are not going to use this device, while those with a rudimentary understanding of gun safety don't need it. Don't like the fact that this device treats safety as a mechanical issue rather than a min...

Re: 'New" Safety Bullet - not a snap cap
Hmm, looks like it adds a step to the Israeli draw. I'd want to drill it a bunch before I counted on being able to do it under pressure, and then would be worried about having something built into muscle memory that does not apply when the firearm is properly loaded. I surmise from the description t...

Re: Suggestions on a handgun
My .02. Shot placement is the single most critical element of using a pistol defensively. The single most critical element of getting good shot placement is practice. It's a lot cheaper to practice with 9 mm than anything other than .22, ergo a pistol firing 9 mm rounds is the most cost effective wa...

Rumor has it they had some major lead in the ventilation system issues, or so I heard third hand. Combined with their support of politicians who are anti-gun, I won't be shooting there.

Re: Nations Gun show
You'll see some used guns there. Most shotguns I've seen tend to be for clays, but I've seen some pumps. Price is hard to figure. You can get on Gunbroker or whatever and see what they are going for if you have a specific model in mind, or it's always good to have the Bluebook of Guns around to see ...

Re: Peacemaker National Training Center
Just worked my first RSO shift there today. They haven't advertised much so we only had a couple dozen shoots at the public range over the course of the day. Fine by me as I got to run about 200 rounds through my pistol, and about 100 rounds through my AR at 25, 100, and 250 yards. My favorite kind ...
