What's going on at the NRA Range?

Post by widefat »

I sometimes shoot at the range early on saturday mornings. Before the range is open to the public, I notice a lot of young folks leaving with some impressive long-gun kits. What club, organization, group is this?

Acorns shoot there Sunday mornings. They shoot high end .22 target rifles. Nothing on the NRA calendar for Saturday mornings, though. You can see it here:

I suppose that the folks to ask would be the very same young folks with impressive long gun kits. I imagine that they'd love to tell you who they are and what they're doing. They might even be happy to let you get a closer look at those impressive guns. :)

You shoot at the NRA range on Sat. morning? I'm sorry.

When I lived in NoVA 6 years ago, the line formed Sat. morning at 7:00am-7:15am for when the range opened. And was packed all the time. That's good, but, it was a 'get in, shoot, get-out' atmosphere.

Back in the 90's you could go there and take your time while shooting. Everyone was friendly back then. But that was a different time and age.

Yep - If I go on Sat morning, I'm in line by 7ish. But people are still friendly - at least the ones I encounter.

Robinson huh? I have a niece and nephew on the Robinson Rifle team. I wanted to shoot my new Ruger PC4 at the NRZ range but wait was too long. In the past SUnday afternoons during NFL games I can generally get 30 minutes or less to shoot and that is reasonable. 1 hour to 90 minutes is not...
