northern virginia 18+ rifle rental??

Post by jester110 »

Hey guys, I live in right near Fairfax and was wondering if there are any ranges that allow 18+ year olds to rent rifles to shoot. I am also active in the Navy if that helps any.

Silver Eagle in Ashburn rents a limited assortment of rifles but you have to be 21 to even use the range.

I don't know for sure, but Blue Ridge Arsenal has rifles to rent. I'm unaware of age restrictions but you could just give them a ring.

I could have sworn Blue Ridge had a couple of rifles for rent, but then I haven't been in there in a few years...

If you buy some ammo you can tag along with me. Shoot me a pm.
I invite everyone to come to the range with me. It's as simple as letting me know what day you want to meet up.

Damn really? The guy is 18 and in the Navy but can't shoot any guns. I know it has to be a little different in the Navy but you guys don't have any kind of proficiency training? Really seems strange that people in the armed services would have to resort to something like that.

Charles.

The Range in Stafford does allow rim fire rifles (.22'sLR only, no magnums or shorts). Short lanes but fun none the less if you pick up some of those sticky back targets at Walmart. If they rent rifles it will only be 22's of course. They do rent out glocks and you need to buy their reloads with the rentals.

Try Sharpshooters in Lorton. They just renovated and now allow assault rifle calibers. They've always allowed and rented rimfires.

northern virginia 18+ rifle rental??

Post by scrubber3 »

Have you tried to piggyback with any marine units nearby? Sometimes the NCOIC or Group leader won't mind one bit so long as your chain of command is aware and allows it. We used to get the occasional airman piggyback with us when I was active army. It won't cost you anything and you get to use your issued weapon.

Might be worth looking into.
I had a SCAR 17 and 16. I also had a bunch of Glocks and a couple H&K pistols. Oh and a DDM4, but I sold everything when our government told me these dangerous tools can actually hurt someone. Apparently they grow legs and go on killing sprees.

If you try Blue Ridge, call them first. Someone told me they only allow handguns now, although I'm not positive. Either way I believe the lanes are only 25 yards.

For $35 you can become a member of the NRA and use their range in Fairfax. I believe they are either 100 or 150 yards and do allow rifles. Unfortunately they do not rent, so you would either have to buy one or find someone who has one).

Hey Jester, SharpShooters has 2 official rifles to rent, a AR15 as well as a AK47. We also have a 22lr in an AR15 platform, a shotgun and 2 9mm carbines. As long as you are a member it is 10 dollars to rent the firearm, plus the cost of the ammo. The good thing is that the 10 dollars is a one time fee for the duration of your visit, so you can exchange one firearm for another one with out any additional rental fees; you only need to purchase any additional ammo.

Disregard the bold part. They definitely still allow rifles. The person was wrong. ;)
