They sure seem to be closed a lot for multiple reasons. Do you know if members will have their memberships extended to compensate them for not having access? The number of closures has been one of the big reasons I have not gotten a membership there, even though I live and work around the corner.

I did get an email recently about a new air handling system to augment what they have. They are also putting wifi in the waiting area.

Members received an email telling them that their membership dues were suspended for the 3-4 weeks required to do the planned "upgrades". The ventilation upgrade had already been completed before this outage. This is all about adding a snack bar, wifi, and other "social" upgrades, if you're into that. Me, I just want to shoot. The downtime is an inconvenience, but at least I'm not paying for lost range time...

Rumor has it they had some major lead in the ventilation system issues, or so I heard third hand. Combined with their support of politicians who are anti-gun, I won't be shooting there.

Dear Valued Members,

As you are all aware, Silver Eagle Group has been closed for the last three weeks undergoing some major renovations. During the time we have been closed numerous changes have taken place. Some of these changes are very obvious, and some are not, but all of the work that has occurred was to allow Silver Eagle Group to make your experience here truly enjoyable.

We are very excited to introduce our totally new layout. The updated floor plan includes a dedicated gun room where we will now stock a large variety of firearms, from sub compact handguns to full spectrum precision rifles, and everything in between. After your time on the ranges come relax in our new lounge area, boasting flat screen televisions and plenty of seating. To enhance your even experience further we have now have an expanded retail area, complete with everything to outfit yourself and your weapon, including a full line of 5.11 tactical gear.

To thank you for your patience during the remodel, we would like to invite you to attend a members only breakfast this Saturday starting at 8:00am. This invite only breakfast is our way of saying thank you for your patronage and loyalty during the last three weeks, and to you give you, our members, the first chance to see the new facility, check out the latest in the firearms we will be carrying, shop the expanded retail area, and most important, be the first on ranges before anyone else. Food and beverages will be provided, and all will be given tickets making you eligible for great prizes which will be raffled off throughout the day. A few people will leave with certificates for free weapons training classes and one lucky person will leave with the grand prize of a one year free membership.

We hope you all can make it to help celebrate the grand reopening of the premier shooting range and self defense academy in the area. RSVPs are not necessary, just bring yourselves and come out for a great day of fun, prizes, and shooting!

went to their grand re-opening today and their range and showroom is quite amazing.

Their retail store is like....the Apple store for guns.

Prices are high, but expected for a range. I do want that M1A - feel free to buy me a wedding gift.

The range does seems a bit fresher with the new air exchanges.

In other news, my XDM Compact is a tack driver. I was in the groove today and pumped 2 magazines into a ragged hole.

Sounds like they remodeled to make more money with a bigger retail area.

I stopped in SEG today for the first time since the remodel. The place definitely has a 'nicer' feel to it, and the retail sections are much bigger than before. They have a nice gun cave in place of the old rental counter. The gun selection is much bigger than before and the presentation is extremely good.

I didn't see any big changes to the ranges, but the electronic target carriages are nice.

Summary:
+ More guns and better presentation.
+ Friendlier atmosphere (customer service is great)
+ More retail space and more clothing
- Nowhere near as much gun gear as Blue Ridge Arsenal (amount of gun gear seems to be reduced)
- Not as wide of a variety of long guns as BRA
+ Better AR selection than BRA(some custom rifles)
- Still a bit higher price for the range than BRA
+ Better quality range than BRA

Overall, I'd call it a wash. If you want to just go to a range or you want clothes, go to SEG. If you want to shop for gun gear, go to BRA.
