DeGoffs

I drove through Mechanicsville yesterday and was surprised to see a realtor’s sign on the DeGoff building. Sad that we have lost another small shop. Hard to compete with Bass Pro and the like.

I did not notice particular models, just the general makes for which they had holsters. They will still carry Safariland on their website, just not in the store.

Conservation Park - Any Thoughts?

I am thinking about joining Conservation Park in Charles City County. Does anyone have any experience, either good or bad, with them? They seem to have a pretty nice setup.

Safariland Holsters for $15!

Southern Police Equipment is having a clearance sale on Safariland holsters. All Safariland holsters are $15! They have a lot of Glock holsters, a good number of Sig holsters, some Berreta holsters, and an odd assortment of other holsters. They will no longer carry Safariland holsters in the store, ...

I have to give credit to Mr. Harris for standing by his principles. Unfortunately the few principled individuals left in government are being run out by rest.

Our Senators Respond

I sent an e-mail to both Senator Warner and Senator Kaine directing them (not a request) to vote NO on Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act. These are the responses I received from them. It is interesting to note that they found it important to tell me they were gun owners (maybe we should ask for pic...

2014 - Our Next Senate Election

Mark Warner’s Senate seat comes up for reelection in 2014. He has been a major disappointment to me, and I think he needs to go. But who should be his replacement?

Re: Youth 10 meter air rifle comps?

We started a 4-H Shooting Club in Mechanicsville a few months ago. Is off to a bit of a slow start, as several adults must be 4-H certified before any of the kids can shoot. But I suspect that things will be in full swing within the next couple of months. If you are interested in starting a 4-H Shoo...

20 Round Magazine Limit in Virginia

I learned something today. I was not aware that Virginia had a limit on the number of rounds in a magazine; at least some places in Virginia. The Code of Virginia states that it is unlawful to carry a loaded semi-automatic center-fire rifle or pistol equipped with a magazine that will hold more than...

Re: D.C. will not be prosecuting David Gregory for high-cap mag

So, the way I interpret the letter is that the Attorney General for the District of Columbia believes that simple possession of an unloaded magazine does not endanger public safety. Why then is the law on the books? I agree with Mama Bear that DC should not prosecute any violation of this ridicules ...

Wouldn't it be nice if the ACLU brought suit? If they want to truly defend American Civil Liberties what better to defend than the Bill of Rights!

We have a lot of work to do to get our message out!

I was talking with my mom yesterday and a couple of things she said made me stop and think about the information that is being disseminated by the media. Mom is in her 70’s and has never really been either pro or anti-gun. When I was a kid my father had a shotgun and a pistol and no one thought twic...

Re: Bolling Suspends Campaign for Governor of Virginia

In Virginia voters do not register by party (If they did I would have to choose “None of the Above”), so a statewide primary of registered Republicans would not work. I recall there was a movement several years ago to have the person voting in the Republican primary sign a pledge that they would sup...

"Moldy" S&W 915 - What's it worth?

I have a friend that has a "moldy" S&W 915. Her husband had stashed it under the kitchen sink. She found it last week and wants to get rid of it. I have not seen the gun, but she descibes it as "moldy." I am trying to get an idea of the value of the gun. I know it is difficul...
