Legislation I would like to see

Post by Wingandaprayer »

Legislation I could support:

Firearms Sensibility Act

1) Prior to proposing any legislation concerning the prohibition, use, taxation, or any other action concerning firearms or any and all ancillary equipment, an individual shall have obtained a minimum of 8 hours of firearms training from an instructor certified by the National Rifle Association or other approved organization. Certification shall be good for a period of two years, after which time re-certification shall be required.

2) There shall be a 30 day waiting period after any widely reported incident before an individual holding elected office may offer any type of legislation related to said incident.

I can't take credit for #2. I heard it on the radio this afternoon and thought it is a very good idea.

I like both of these ideas.

On #1 - Every time I hear "clip" instead of "magazine" out of the mouths of those trying to legislate them, I wince at the ignorance. It's not that hard to understand firearms nomenclature - hell, even Jarheads speak it as a second language! If we can teach Marines, we can teach politicians, right? :hysterical: (Former squid - just ribbing you, Marines.)

On #2 - This might cut down on nanny-state knee-jerk legislation... but in DC, cooler heads rarely prevail.

Good ones, then maybe we will stop hearing (from the experts DC) "high clip and that thing in the back that goes up" :bangin:

I have a more radical idea: force them to walk 7 nights in Detroit, without gun or guards.
After that they can propose anything, but I feel it will be totally different.

That won't change their minds because they can go back to their castles. They don't have to live with their decisions because they exempt themselves from them.

I would like to see something simple, perhaps something added to the Bill of Rights, that says "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". :enlighten:

Thats GOT to work, right?

Need to admend rule number 1 to include the media. They probally need double the training before they can report on any Gun related issues.

On page 61, the sections reads:

An identified [redacted] of October planned to engage in sniper attacks against protesters in Houston, Texas, if deemed necessary. An identified [redacted] had received intelligence that indicated the protesters in New York and Seattle planned similar protests in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, Texas. [Redacted] planned to gather intelligence against the leaders of the protest groups and obtain photographs, then formulate a plan to kill the leadership via suppressed sniper rifles.

The bottom of page 68 and the top of page 69 reads:

On October 13, 2011, writer sent via email an excerpt [redacted] regarding FBI Houston’s [redacted] to all IA’s, SSRA’s and SSA [redacted]. This [redacted] identified the exploitation of the Occupy Movement by [redacted] interested in developing a long-term plan to kill local Occupy leaders via sniper fire.

There is no first amendment without the second one!
Topic related, I'd like to see legislation for total transparency and those who planned this in jail.

I like these, and agree Senator's and Congressmen should have term limits set. Enough of this the good senator X spent 30 years serving his own interests, and helped line the pockets of too many large corporate sponsors/contributors to list. Then supported so many unneeded bills, and increased spending to the point where we, our children, and their children will still be paying for it long after Senator X is gone.
