Re: $100 belt?!? ?!
There is a guy that comes to the gunshows in Va he sells alot of belts and buckles. Looks like a Harley Davidson area. The belts he sell are some of the best I've ever had. All leather, none of that crap with cardboard sandwiched between them, and you can get a heavy duty buckle as well. Price for t...

Re: Now comes the wait
If this was for a resident CHP then the longest wait you have would be 45 days, after that the court should issue the defacto permit untill they issue the correct one.

Re: Silly Virginia Background Checks & Poor Process
This is where the old saying "your past will always come back to haunt you" comes into play. The problem here is when people get arrested for something and the courts don't update the criminal history then the Virginia Sate Police firearms unit has to do the research and then do the courts...

Re: Virginia State Police Network Down for 5 Hours
"Seriously, I hope enough people will wise up so we can ditch this useless, wasteful, duplicative state system." +1 Having just relocated back to VA from Arizona, I have to ask, what does the state system do that the Fed system does not do? Or is it all about a few jobs and taxpayer money...

Re: Virginia to discontinue State Background checks?
Well here is one thing the state of Virginia does a heck of alot better and faster than NICS. If you get denied or have to appeal a denial the state of Virginia can usually get it fixed for you in less than 5 days from talking to you on the phone, NICS has a waiting period/backup period of over 144 ...

Re: Virginia to discontinue State Background checks?
The goods news is that their is a legal limit on gun check delays. The FBI only has 72 hours to find a reason to block a sale. After that, they must clear you. The state of Virginia is also held to the same 3 business days. But the comment you have about "they must clear you" is false. Th...

Re: A-ha: "delay" status for VA State police background check
Somebody correct me if I am mistaken, but doesn't the Constitution state that my RIGHT to OWN and BEAR ARMS, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED? Seems to me that the background check(s) and paying for the check, IS an infringement! so by infringed do you mean convicted felons and people with mental health prob...

Re: A-ha: "delay" status for VA State police background check
well as it stands now the feds do not have a hand in any gun purchases in the state of Va. its all done by the VSP. when i said the feds copied the VSP i was refering to how the feds copied the entire way of doing checks that was started by the VSP, even the online checking system. As long as there...

Re: A-ha: "delay" status for VA State police background check
I don't want to pay for something unnecessary. You just said the .fed copies the state. That is duplicate action defined. Besides, I already have more than enough guns in the case that .fed attempts to preclude further purchases and some "activity" becomes a popular solution for tyranny.....

Re: A-ha: "delay" status for VA State police background check
A criminal history report reads the same from all 50 states, showing arrest/judgment/conviction-release... It's not complicated, and I read them for my job. As a matter of LAW, the things that prohibit someone from buying a firearm are listed in the 18.1 codes, and read fairly simple. Answering you...

Re: A-ha: "delay" status for VA State police background check
Back to the instant-check, at at $2 per check, if they get a 1000+ on a weekend day, it should EASILY pay for additonal staffing, and G-d forbid, updating the software so people like me that get delayed and that purchase a gun more than once in a blue moon can get the delay time decreased substanti...
