Re: Blue Ridge Arsenal
I was just there tonight, and yes: both sides are open. It's also pretty nice on the range compared with the last time I was there (about four years ago).

WTB: beat-up 1911 GI-type grips
Hello- I'm looking to buy a set of beat-up full-size 1911 grip panels. Worn, dinged-up, minor chips, etc. Wood or plastic. As long as they are in serviceable condition, and priced accordingly (not looking to spend a whole lot). Looking for a face-to-face in NoVA (at a local range would work for me),...

Re: NRA range, Fairfax Virginia
I've OCed there several times, and I've seen many other people do so as well; I've seen nothing in the rules against bringing a loaded gun to the range, only that it must be in a case or a holster at all times except in the shooting booth between the black and red lines, pointed downrange while bein...

Re: NRA range, Fairfax Virginia
It's a nice range, and I used to go all the time. But it's $14/hour, even for NRA members. That adds up fast. Also, they're kinda jerks sometimes. They seem to act like they're the only range in the area. Also, while safety obviously must be a big deal at *any* range, they seem to take the attitude...

Re: NRA Range
My current strategy for dealing with the weekends is this: since you must be there to put your name on the list (can't phone ahead and say "this is so-and-so, please put me on the list") and since you don't actually have to wait there all that time, what I do is go to the range, see how lo...

Opening up soon (Jan 30th is their grand opening) will be Nova Armament in Herndon -- novaarmament.com. They should have a decent selection of stuff.

Re: T&R Firearms & Shooting Supplies in Warrenton
I've done business with him (Mr. Thomas Drinkwater) several times in the past. Good guy, works out of his house, usually gets a couple tables at The Nation's Gun Show. I usually just email him and ask if he's got whatever I need in-stock, and then I drive over and pick it up. Interestingly, that usu...

hmm...maybe I oughtta dust off my resume...
ETA: Maybe y'all oughtta make up a job application. I've never had to fix up a resume for a retail job before (although I can see how it would be useful here, given the subject matter)

A sports bar with an FFL and a display case...I kinda like that idea. The BATFE would be crapping all kinds of bricks =)

Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
Transfer costs are still being worked on, but they will be lower than any other storefront in the area. Have you considered transfer costs of $0.00? Pondering the idea, it is zero cost to you, so its not like money is being lost. Yet what it is doing is bringing traffic into the store. Somebody who...

Re: NRA Range
yup; as long as it's lead-core (no steel core/armor piercing/incendiary/tracer rounds), the range can take anything up to .460 Weatherby.

holsters, reloading stuff (components--bullets, brass, primers, powders; equipment--presses, dies, case prep., scales, etc.), cleaning supplies, grips, magazines, safety equipment, clothing... You know, the usual. Of the stuff I listed, I'd say that the reloading components would bring steady busine...

I voted Revolver. My favorite revolver is the S&W 617-4, 10-shot .22LR, 6" barrel, pre-lock.

Re: Looking for FFL dealer for transfer in Alexandria
I use Bruce Furr of Furr Supply Co/Signal Hill Supply. He charges me $30 to transfer, and works both out of his house in Vienna, and out of a room at the Fairfax Rod & Gun Club in Manassas ("FXRGC"; all guns get shipped to the FXRGC storefront). He is cool with receiving guns from non-...

Yeah, that's me. Not to brag or nothin' =) I've been busy--training for a 100-mile bicycle ride and shooting at pistol matches. I'd sure like to go to another one, though...if for nothing else than the fun stuff you can do @ Hite Hollow vs. other ranges (a pistol in each hand? bump firing? point sho...

kle = K. Le, my actual name. Not very imaginative, but it's what Virginia Tech gave me for a student ID, and I figured it's about as accurate as anything.

Re: m9 trigger
You could replace the hammer spring with that of a "D" model, either a 92D or a 96D. Since the "D" models are double-action-only, the longer trigger pull is countered with a lighter spring and a lighter/faster hammer. Some folks put the lighter hammer spring in their FS and G mod...
