open carry with copper star on belt

Yesterday, I saw a man OC-ing in Dulles Town Center. He was in street clothes with his family (holding an infant in his hands, even). Next to his holster on his belt, there was a copper star. I wasn't close enough to see if there was anything written on it or if it was a real badge. So, now I'm all ...

penalty for carrying?

According to the first link in the forum, if I CC to a restaurant and consume alcohol, I've commited a Class 2 Misdemeanor. What if I carry where I'm not supposed to? For example, to my office since my employer has a no weapons policy? [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://vagunforum.net/images/mob...

Re: One in the chamber?

Looks like the consensus is to carry with one in the chamber.
What about the safety?

I have a Px4 Storm. I can only have the safety on with the hammer down, but if the hammer is down, do I really need the safety? Opinions?

Sterling Arsenal

Has anyone dealt with Sterling Arsenal (Sterling, VA)? I find their website rather confusing (www.sterlingarsenal.com). Do they have a store front? Do they only handle transfers?

Re: flipflopping between open and concealed

I see your point. I agree with you in a scenario where your attacker is armed with a firearm and situations where there is a swift attack regardless of weapon. However, there are still situations where you'd be better off drawing before deciding to shoot. I think Gerald Ung is a perfect example. We ...

Re: flipflopping between open and concealed

The law linked in the second post regarding brandishing specifically exempts self defense. So, it is legal to brandish when you feel your life threatened. If the theat disappears at that point, I don't see how you would be obligated to shoot to avoid a brandishing charge. [ Post made via Mobile Devi...

carrying in downtown Leesburg

Does anyone know off-hand if almost none, some, most, almost all businesses in historic downtown Leesburg ban guns on their property?

Hi all! I've made a couple posts, but haven't properly introduced myself. I live in Leesburg and I'm looking to find shooting clubs. Can anyone tell me about IWLA in Leesburg? I've never hunted nor do I own a shotgun, but I have shot trap and it was a blast (pun intended). I'd like to learn more abo...

Re: NOVA Armament - Herndon, VA - Review

I purchased a handgun at NOVA Armament based on reviews I read on this forum and on Yelp!. I have to agree with everyone who says that they have good customer service. I had a pleasant experience with them and would recommend. However, they have recently raised their transfer fees and no longer give...

flipflopping between open and concealed

My guess is that this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find the right combination of search terms to pull it up... If you have a VA CHP and you're in VA: Is there a legal reason why you should painstakingly conceal your handgun? What I mean is... what's the problem with bulging, printing, o...

Re: gun shops and responsible parenting

Thanks everyone for the input. I knew it's only logical to treat gun shops and shows as any other, but it's nice to hear reassurances from other parents. I'm planning to go to the Nations Gun Show this weekend and I think I'll bring the whole family. :-) [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://vagunf...

gun shops and responsible parenting

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum, new to shooting, and a new parent. When I go out shopping and running errands, I almost always have my infant son with me. I often get the urge to go to my local gun shop to check out their wares. However, I have refrained from doing so because of a preconceived no...

9mm slim

I'm looking for a sub-compact slim 9 mm. My first choice is a Kel-Tec PF-9 due to its affordability, but I'll consider a good deal on Kahr PM-9 or Walther PPS. I'm in NoVA with cash and CHP in hand.

.22 target

I'm looking for a .22 pistol with a 5.5"+ barrel to use for target practice. The Ruger Mark II/III and Beretta Neos are two that I'm specifically looking at, but I'll consider others as well. I'm in NoVA with CHP and cash in hand.
