Re: 1911--45 Cal: Sig versus Kimber custom?
What is the thread pitch on the NM Carry? .578x28 which is the standard for 45ACP 1911's due to the thickness of the barrel. Here is a picture with the original grips... Along side a Sig P220, Norinco 1911, and a Kimber Super Match. All barrels are .578x28 https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5494/951101...

...A 1911 nightmare carry is on my dream list. Sig Nightmare Carry, 10-8 flat trigger, Grips by Larry Davidson https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5447/9673743860_ee0cb016eb_b.jpg The 1911 in the holster is a Dan Wesson CBOB, also with Larry's grips. I also picked up a threaded barrel for the NM Carry.....

Re: 1911--45 Cal: Sig versus Kimber custom?
My Sig Nightmare Carry has better fit and finish than both of my Kimbers. All three 1911's are very accurate and have been reliable. The Sig is a bit more picky about my hand loads (tight chamber, had to adjust my seating and crimp a little). My Pro Carry II needed a lot of out-of-the-box work to sm...

Re: Submitted 2 Forms yesterday
Now they need to fix eForms so I can get my AAC can! If the eForm4 was submitted before the shutdown, it will be approved (assuming no errors, of course) They are chugging through them. There have been reports of newly approved Form 1's that were submitted before they turned them off. So, they are ...

Re: Sig or Springfield 1911
4" barreled 1911's are the sweet spot for velocity. With the 3" you loose a ton of speed and with the 5" it's not that huge of an increase over the 4". I recently had the opportunity to work on a new Sig 1911 Carry Nightmare. It was a very impressive 1911. I would not change a si...

Re: WTB Marlin Marlin 1894C 38/357 lever action
I prefer the Marlin due to the side eject. I found mine at Greentop in the used section. If you go to their web site, they list all their used guns in a PDF file you can download (they don't list all their guns in their little online store thing, so make sure you download the PDF, it is updated week...

Re: New here from TX and about to transplant to VA
Welcome to the area. I drive by LAFB every day. For good BBQ, go to "County Grill" They have a great pork BBQ, BBQ chicken, shrimp (THE BEST! BBQ grilled shrimp stuffed with gouda and wrapped in bacon) and even brisket for you Texas folks :) Really, it's all great. May not be what you are ...

Re: AtHome home surveillance for the iPad or iPhone
Also, The iPad/iPhone app "LiveCams Pro" can view most IP network cameras (dozens of different manufacturers and hundreds of different models). For generic IP based security cameras, I prefer AXIS cameras. They are not cheap, but I have not had good results or success with "cheap"...

Won't be the first time that Norfolk gets their asses handed to them in court over a false arrest.

Re: 1911 Recommendations
...STI, Kimber, Springfield, Ruger all have $500-1000 1911's. I need to shop where you shop. Never seen one of these for less than $650 new. Used yes but that's because someone is hurting for money. These manufacturers push just under to just over a grand for their products. RIA sells most models u...

Re: 1911 Recommendations
If you want a full featured 1911 at a cheaper price, check out the Ruger SR1911 (if you can find one!) Street price is around $600-700. They use CNC milling machines for all the parts and are able to produce a very high quality 1911 for less cost due to the manufacturing techniques they can use. htt...

Re: 1911 Recommendations
Holy crap, $1k for a handgun? I'm not into 1911s myself so I've never looked into pricing, but what's with the price difference between them and a Glock or XD? Does the polymer frame really drop the price that much? More mill work, more hand fitting and parts installation, fewer sales (economics of...

Re: 1911 Recommendations
Also add Sig Sauer and STI to that list to check out. They are right around that price range and come with some outstanding features. They use very good parts and are generally well regarded. To slim down the field you should try to find the features he might want. High rise beaver tail, rail or no ...

Re: SIG P229 9x19mm and Gemtech Multimount
haha, my p229 is threaded in .40 S&W so I don't know if they have those in stock. I might have to go with a custom Bar-sto barrel threaded in .5x28. I have 3 pistons for my Osprey anyway: 16x1LH, 13.5x1LH and .5x28. :) The Sig in my video is a P229 40S&W with a Barsto 9mm conversion barrel ...

Re: SIG P229 9x19mm and Gemtech Multimount
Nice shooting! Now I gotta ask: are you using the stock sights or did you replace them with taller ones? Also, what's your favorite subsonic ammo for the SIG P229? I have both normal and tall sights. I have a silver slide with tall sights, which is in the video above (Adjustable LPA sights: http://...
