Yes, I've seen some strong opinions here but they have always been graciously expressed. And what's that saying? An armed society is a polite society!

Re: reckless discharge of a firearm
I sometimes shoot trap at Bull Run Shooting Center. The deer stand downrange, certainly within 300 yards, and are totally unconcerned about the shot coming directly at them. My guess is if they were being hit at all, which I doubt, they must have thought it was rain!

"Commonsense gun laws?" Name one politician who has commonsense! Just as "investment" is the new speak for spending "commonsense" is the new speak for gun control!

Thank you George and back at ya with the A+! It was a pleasure meeting and dealing with you and I too enjoyed our conversation. No problem being a little late as you did call to let me know! Re: Arlington Fairfax IWLA Range Question
Welcome back to Northern Virginia and also to VGOF! Regrettably, I can't offer any info on the IWLA. I do suggest however that you go to the new members area and introduce yourself. People here are quite friendly and helpful but you may find them more forthcoming if they know a little about you! :we...

Proving once again that Congressmen are not as smart as criminals! The bad guys love gun free zones! They are proposing a law that would make them much more vulnerable!

I had the same issue. Progressives caused more problems than they solved. I went with just plain eye protection, no correction, for a while. Then I got a red dot sight and read somewhere where progressives worked well with a red dot so I tried them again. The progressives let me focus on the target ...

Re: Pistol Range near Williamsburg?
I went to the Marksman in NN, nice folks, but the place is pretty run-down. ...but the lack of ventilation in there, -YIKES! Yeah, I shot there once last Summer and this pretty much nails it. I wanted to like it, they are nice folks, but I also like to be able to breathe when I leave the range. We'...

Re: Conversations with clients
she basically said, every time a hunter is accidentally killed or injured, she applauds it. You might ask her how she would feel if she accidentally killed someone and had to live with it the rest of her life. People have opinions about things without thinking them through. If you have to ask a tou...

Just got back... looks like a huge turnout at our precinct. The Republican volunteer handing out sample ballots said about 3/4 of the people were requesting the Republican sample ballot.

Thanks for the insight Paliden... we were discussing these and trying to figure them out. You made it very clear! BTW - Just came back from the polls and the turnout in our precinct is huge. The poll workers are saying it's bigger than the '08 election.

Should the Washington Post be held responsible for obesity? After all, they accept advertising from companies who sell fattening foods! They have a well deserved reputation as "The Washington Compost."

Re: The Marksman (Newport News, Va)
I shot at the Marksman once this past August. I found it to be a pleasant experience. As GreyGhost says, they check your ammo, no steal is allowed and no rapid fire. There was only one salesperson on the counter and he had other customers so I had to wait a few minutes but he did his best to get me ...

HMS Astute... apparently the captain wasn't! Still a better outcome than the captain who ran the San Francisco into an underwater mountain at 35 knots a few years back.

Re: Looking for pistol range in NoVA...walk in, pay, and shoot
I also use the NRA range a lot. 1. It's only a couple of miles from my house. 2. Great ventilation, lighting and target system, even more so after this Summer's upgrade. 3. I'm comfortable there because the RSO's watch over the line like a hawk. I've heard horror stories about some ranges and witnes...

Re: Can this man walk out with a handgun next month?
Years ago, when I moved to Virginia, I too neglected to change my license and re-register my car. It wasn't a year but it was beyond the 60 days when I was pulled over. I hadn't done anything, just got pulled over because I had out of state tags. Bottom line, I had to pay a fine, prove I had changed...
