Actually, I'm talking 'bout Western NC. Pretty good folks there. From about Greensboro east it's as FuBar as Northern & Tidewater Virginia. Sigh.....Maybe we could break offabout 150 miles of east TN, about thew same amount of VA & NC, secede and call it "HILLBILLY NATION".

As for opting out not being an option, I think a proposed constitution like Mr. Soros' would result in THAT case being RETRIED. I remember reading that the first state that tried to secede was Massachusetts (or was it Maine?). Happened fairly early on and involved some sort of trade or tarriff dispute. But maybe the time is now right. After all, the mexicans want to secede and take Tex, ARIZ, NM & maybe southern CA back to Mexico. Maybe us rednecks (who normally don't count) can piggyback on their cause.

What Soros proposes sounds fine to me and probably to the other 95% of Americans that get the crumbs from the other 5%.

This will happen in due time thankfully.

PRINCETON, NJ -- Conservatives have maintained their leading position among U.S. ideological groups in the first half of 2010. Gallup finds 42% of Americans describing themselves as either very conservative or conservative. This is up slightly from the 40% seen for all of 2009 and contrasts with the 20% calling themselves liberal or very liberal.

Yes, the Confederacy tried it 150 years ago. But their cause was stained by slavery. Ours will be by (in the opinion of the Soros crowd) our devotion to personal liberty and private property. That'll maybe be a bigger propoganda burden than stamping out slavery. These days, we'd have a protracted court battle first - - - THEN go to shootin' at damnyankees. :hysterical:

Dormin! You're forgetting that the media is a big Federal "Pravda".

It's RARE that they actual report UNBIASLY.

So we're gonna become "homegrown terrorists" who are "fighting against wanted changes" because we're "bitter, and clinging to our guns, and god".

Why the hell would being born give you the right to a nice house and a decent job? If you want nice things you earn them off the sweat of your brow. This nose in the air sense of entitlement is what is wrong with this country.

One can find a poll to support anything...plus most Americans are so politically illiterate I wouldn't be surprised if most didnt know what either term meant.

Look:

http://www.theroot.com/buzz/nbcwsj-poll ... nding-cuts
MSNBC is reporting the results of a NBC/WSJ poll that Americans are "adamantly opposed" to cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and k-12 education.

See? People like government programs. And paying for them is irrelevant.

Um... Gallup and Rasmussen are the two most respected names in polling.

Soooo, You showed MSNBC data which has an acknowledged bias, along with an insult to those being polled on Gallup. Um... Dude? Really? That's where you're going with that?

You really need to read "Discussion Logic Flowchart", seriously:

Sure.

http://pewforum.org/other-beliefs-and-p ... urvey.aspx
Atheists and agnostics, Jews and Mormons are among the highest-scoring groups on a new survey of religious knowledge, outperforming evangelical Protestants, mainline Protestants and Catholics on questions about the core teachings, history and leading figures of major world religions.

People apparently even don't know much about their own religions-you expect me to believe they know what they're talking about in regards to their apparent political views? :hysterical:

Again, what people say and what people do are very different things. I don't care if 42% of Americans say they are "conservative",

I guarantee many of those self-described "conservatives" would crap themselves with rage if their social security was tampered with...I base this on the fact social security and Medicare are a "third rail" for a reason; surely with the awesome conservative majority(?) of 42% those two socialist scams would have been dumped ages ago right?

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. I think you're incorrect about using the term "EVERYONE", and the percentage of "95%", and again, using the logic chart format:

You changed the subject from "Politics" to "Religion" to fit your argument. Thereby rendering your opinion moot. People can claim "religions", but they ARE "conservative", or "liberal" in some varying degree.

Again, you change the subject to Medicare/SSI... not EVERYONE is depending on that to care for them. As to REMOVING something? You need a complete majority not "42%", You can only become President with 42% (AHEM-Clinton 92').

Again, let us agree, to disagree, and we'll see in the history books whose correct. The arguments over. You stated "95% of America wants to be socialists" (your personal view) , I pointed that "42% are conservative" (Gallup polls). Point match, done.

If you want me to spend my entire evening finding example, after example to prove you wrong? I ain't. I follow that "Conversation Logic flowchart", and my views of "internet battles" are the same as winning the special olympics, Doesn't matter who wins, yer still "special".

Judicious use of that logic chart on all Internet forums would probably do more to clean out the tubes than Obama making P2P a felony...

Who said anything about "bunnies and fairies"? Universal healthcare and home ownership(however one defines a home is debatable of course) and universal food are entirely possible and quite desirable to create a true "ownership" society, and would certainly guarantee the "welfare of the people" under Constitution v1.0

In fact I believe removing the three greatest pressures facing humans (if we were to use something like Maslows hierarchy) would free up major cash for new spending and jobs.

While I would have never really considered home ownership and food a "right" before, I guess on second thought it should be a right, as the idea of "freedom" is no consolation when you're homeless and hungry.

Edit: I wanted to move to Europe but my wife said no...so...there you have it. We're actually eligible for EU citizenship (her via Ireland myself via Italy)...but she sunk the idea. Oh well, better to improve this country than flee to another.

Amazing how theres always a few trillion for wars and a few trillion for tax cuts for the rich, but everyone is very budget conscious when it comes to helping middle and lower class people isn't it?

So I suppose you mean to say your just going to tax the rich. The kind of money it would take to feed and house all of America is greatly more then all of the wealth of the rich combined, and when they are over taxed and poor then they will join the same welfare plan as everyone else. No one is left earning their own money and there is no drive to work. Heck why would I work when someone else is paying for my food and housing?

Edit: And when no one is working no one is building houses or growing food. The bottom line is America has always has been if you don't like the way you live or the life you lead you can get off your ass and do something about. What all welfare does is remove that motivation.
