I don't know how I missed this until today. Man... that sucks. I hope your ex-sister in-law is doing better today.
Man, I stopped working in DC because I want to be able to carry my weapon everywhere I go. I am armed 24x7. If I'm not in the shower or asleep, its on my hip. If I am in the shower or asleep, its only a foot away.
I hope that the day I need to take a human life never comes, but if it comes down to me (or my loved ones) or some scumbag... I pick me and mine.
I started off carrying little pocket guns that are convenient and easy to conceal, but at the range I found that they're very hard to shot with any reliable accuracy if they don't fit your hand correctly and/or if the trigger is too hard to pull. So, I starting carrying a P226 and/or a G17. I carry a total of 31 rounds with the SIG or 35 rounds with the G17.
I noticed that terrorist and whack-jobs are shooting up public places where lots of people gather, so depending on were I am going and what I am doing, I keep a rifle in the truck with a few 30 rounders on stand-by.
Again, I hope and pray that I never, ever need to take a life. It just doesn't make sense not to prepare based on whats happening around the world and the country today.

I'm the same way. I carry everywhere either on me or in my vehicle. I pray I never have to use it but I make dayum sure it's with me if I ever do.
The few people that even know I do carry think I go too far with it sometimes, but that's their issue, not mine. I will still carry everywhere I can.

@MarcSpaz: I know but short of a shoulder holster and a coat there's no hiding my 9mm. Plus I have long slender hands so the small pistol fits surprisingly comfortable in my hands. I am looking at concealable holsters for my M&P but I still think it will be hard to hide it.

Believe me, I understand. I am a big guy. An untucked shirt, jeans and a sturdy belt, I can CC 4 full size pistols and 4 spare mags and no one would know. But, that is only part of it. You would have to be fairly light/small before carrying a concealed full frame becomes a challenge. Like, 5'2" and 100 lbs. Almost all of it is proper holster and clothing choices.
But, what's important is what you're comfortable with and how you train. If its not comfortable, it will discourage people from carrying, which is bad. And as long as you can put rounds on target anywhere from point blank to 7 yards, you have most self defense situations covered.

I am fairly light at about 6'2" 180lbs but I tend to wear loose fitting clothing, my favorite tends to be carpenter pants and long t-shirts. So I guess it shouldn't be a problem with a nice holster, heck it'd give me a reason to invest in a leather holster I've been looking at. It's kind of a trade off with the two pistols though. The 9mm holds more rounds but the .357 has more umph.
Though I can put rounds in the target at 5-7 yards, even if they are't dead center, with either. The small pistol can use .38 specials which have significantly less kick than .357, and is more similar to that of the 9mm.
Shoot I should just get a concealment holster for my 9mm and an ankle holster for my .357 and just walk around armed to the teeth!

Ironically, I carry similar weapons. Ruger SP101 is my go to EDC. I carry IWB at approx. 1:30. Im so used to it nowadays, feels odd if Im not carrying. I can carry my SP101 in shorts & t-shirt without being noticed. Hell I was doing exactly that all day today.thekinetic wrote:I am fairly light at about 6'2" 180lbs but I tend to wear loose fitting clothing, my favorite tends to be carpenter pants and long t-shirts. I also carry a Ruger P89. Although, admittedly... I only carry that in the winter when I am wearing more clothing. I carry it OWB at 3-4 o'clock.
I'm really considering a compact .45 no reason in particular. Just, cause I can, & I don't have one
