New to VA and already loving it!
New to VA and already loving it!
Good Evening Everyone!
I am a recent transplant to VA from the gun communist state of CA. From the short time I have lived here I already like the state in general better than CA. I am use to the gun laws of TX(I am a resident) and OH(where I grew up). Being an out of state resident am I able to purchase a firearm from someone face to face since I am military though I don't have a VA ID? I plan on submitting for my CHP very soon so would this qualify me as a resident since it would have my VA address on it? As far as guns I like guns with history and have some from WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Pistols I have a mix but, Beretta is one of my favorites.

Virginia is a great place. I don't know why I tried so hard to leave, for so long.
Actually, yeah I do; I spent a lot of time in Williamsburg, which has a wretched infestation of carpetbaggers. I forgot what real Virginians were like.
Welcome to Virginia, and to the forum.

Welcome to Virginia from Virginia! You will love the seasons. I too was raised in SoCal (SFV) Ca and moved here from Carrollton, Tx. Just took a trip early Jan back to Ca and visited Alcatraz but we escaped, fortunately

Welcome to the State and the Forum!
I have to ask the obvious... Any gun porn? LoL
You can keep your out of state DL since you are active duty, but you will need to get a non-resident CHP or get a VA photo I'd issued from the DMV to get a resident CHP.
There may be some others in the same situation you are in who may be aware of something else as an option, but you need you proof of domicile to match your CHP.
Good luck and again, welcome.

Greetings! I was a Chula Vista and Santa Rosa man for many years.

I grew up in San Diego then moved to Redondo Beach after college and lived there for a couple of years before moving to Virginia about 25 years ago.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Sadly I wasn't in the beach sunny area of CA instead I was in the agriculture valley near Fresno. I have a few pics of gun porn I can just have to figure out how on here.

Our favorite water-skiing lake was at Pine Flats North East of Fresno. You could always find smooth water somewhere.

My Taurus in 38 Super with custom KOA wood grips that I handmade.

This is my Ar-15 that my cousin built for me. I don't know all the specs but it has billet upper/lower and shoots like a dream.

A few of my Garands. Top 30.06 and bottom 308
Enjoy!
