Seeing how being defensless worked for her daughter, it seems she'd be for arming the teahers and students everywhere.

Misery loves company after all, maybe she subconsciously wants other people to lose their kids like she did as well?

As for the House of Delegates it will likely be a bulwark for now, but even best defense crumbles after awhile.

IMHO supporting the VCDL-PAC may prove a better long term investment than VCDL right now since much of the problem is at a state elected official level. I haven't seen many local issues in the VCDL alerts compared to last year.

@ Dormin: Right. Paper boxes are fine. Folks do that all the time. Doorhangers are fine, too. You can even tuck stuff behind the flag on the mailbox. I just didn't want anyone to unwittingly stuff what amounts to anti-(current)-govmt literature inside of a mailbox and find themselves in a world of legal hurt.

Interesting. I guess you learn something new every day!

You can attach it to the mailbox, externally, put it on the door of the house, or even in a newspaper box if they have one, but you cannot put it in the mailbox. If you put it in the mailbox, you need to apply the correct amount of postage.

Anyway, I am not moving yet, but I would be happy to walk up to everyone's door and drop it off.

I still am open to this, but it needs to be more organized than a bunch of bozos like us dropping our own homemade flyers. We need a single cohesive flyer.

Figured this would happen. Just means it is time to gird up our loins and get back in there. I thought to leave after the election. However, after reflection, I have realized I do so love Virginia. She has been so good to us. I would hate to see it go the way of the nanny stater's. Time to get up and fight, and only leave the field of battle when either completely defeated or entirely victorious.

Quick definitions:

"Come'here"- Came to Virginia because they wanted opportunity, freedom, and a culture that embraced genteel manners, and hospitality.

"Transplants"-Not here for ever. People who came here for a job/school, or because of a spouses' job/school. They will NOT change their viewpoints, and when things are done? They're moving back, but they're causing damage like crazy.

"CARPETBAGGERS"-Worst of the lot. They think we're "backwards", and that they're here for cheap taxes, property, and making money, but they hate our culture, how we think, and what we hold dear. THEY have contempt for us, but they LOVE our resources. So they vote the same way they did in their last state, which is why they had to move in the first place. AKA "dumbazzes".

I think keeping the flyer handout idea alive and well is a great idea. Will it make a difference? If we have 50 people handout 100 flyers thats 5k flyers.

If we can double that number then that's even better.

If we can get 10% of those people to contact a rep and explain that they don't want more gun control because of x, y and z... I think it would make a difference.

I am in PW county and can help work it from here.

We have some time to do it, so if we are serious lets keep up the idea. Maybe start looking up stats?

We also have to think could this backfire on us? Probably depends on who gets the flyers..

Speaking of communicating without government interference, did y'all catch the story that Sen. Schumer is pushing a bill that would increase the fine on robocalls made after an opt-out to $20,000 PER CALL and make repeat offenses a felony?. Before you say "good for him", think about it:

The phone is the way the older generation who are m ore conservative is best reached. Criminalizing robocalls will make it damned hard for folks like the NRA, NAGR, GOA, and other conservative groups to raise public support and money. The damned liberals will still have a mainline to the young and stupid thru facebook, twitter, etc. This is just another sneaky attempt to load the deck against conservatives.

I have stated that I recently moved here from CA. First thing I did was register for this site, as it seems that this is the front-line webpage for VA firearms discussion, much like Calguns.net is for CA.
I'll do a little repeat of my first post-
Having been on the 'front lines' of the gun control war in CA, I can tell you its bad over there. Gun owners band together as much for common defense as fellowship and shared interest. You need to be hyper-aware of even the smallest gun laws in order to NOT go to jail. Cops can and will take you to jail for so much as an unlocked rifle case... yes you heard that right... RIFLE case, not handgun. Gun-Free School Zone laws in CA apply to rifles... and in LA you cant drive anywhere without being within 1000 feet of a school.
Each year, there are more laws being passed to choke off gun ownership. Its a 'death by a thousand cuts' scheme, and they are winning in CA. Governor Brown recently vetoed a bill that would make ALL semi-autos illegal. And lots of gun owners on Calguns wanted to thank him for the veto. Never mind that he signed 7 other antigun bills. Ammunition, magazine bans etc...

My point is this- It can happen here. My in-laws consider me pretty knee-jerk in my hatred and suspicion of liberals and Democrats. They constatly state that 'a Democrat here is not the same as a Democrat in CA'. This may be true, but the path of ALL Democrats eventually lead to a CA-style dictatorship-- its what they want. High taxes and, simply stated, tight control of the populace.

Can you imagine how weird it was for me to realize that I could simply throw a LOADED handgun in the paasenger seat of my car and drive? That I could drive around with my weapons and not worry about being searched? (Google 'California '12031(e) check' to find out that if a cop sees a gun or gun case in your car he can (and will) search you to make sure they are unloaded "for his and your safety"). That I could get a CHP without a) political or law-enforcement connections or b) a thorough body-cavity search.

I guess sometimes it takes knowing what you lost to treasure what you have. I have re-upped my NRA membership. Next in line is my VCDL membership when I have the money. I am also going to Lobby Day in January. I will not let it happen here. I WONT go back to that nightmare.

It makes me very sad to see the stats on how many gun owners voted in the last election. 50%? Do we really take our gun rights that much for granted?

I'd be interested to know in what demonstrated ways they don't view democrats here as the same kind in CA. We're talking about a political party with a stated platform. Additionally, they're really not democrats - they're progressives and statists. Sure, historically, VA is a blue-dog state, but over the last 30 years, they've become less blue and more dog.

I agree about the robo calls. It's actually another protected form of speech which the government cannot touch, and shows you they have been working on choking the republican party for a looong ass time.

Its another good reason to choke the reigning party by requiring all campaign contributions be made by real people, with their own money, and for an amount that puts it in reach of any working person.
