One thing I thought was funny...I saw a piece about the whole Alaskan gang problem thing on a show called "Gangland" on the history channel. When I saw it they had a bunch of your stereotypical "gangbanger thugs" walking around in Anchorage.....where it was snowing.....and they're talking about it being hard to find them sometimes....against the SNOW. I lol'ed.

I've read about the gangs in AK and would think its a serious problem in the winter. The sun goes down real early and rises real late. Long hours of darkness for those thugs to do their dirty work. I wonder what they do in the summer when there's 18 hours of daylight.

Those scratches are not from hitting someone. Most likely the entire Dept. bought new sidearm's and an armorer stripped apart all the old ones i.e. frames in one bin, slides in another, etc. etc. to assess the the levels of wear. Your frame is scratched like that because it was tossed in a bin and rubbed against other frames.

Yours could be built with a mix of better parts but, you could also have a mix of bad ones to. Just depends where you bought it.

This statement makes no sense at all. Why would an armourer strip apart all the weapons and put the parts in seperated bins and then put the weapons back together again. For one thing all the weapons have hand fitted parts that have to be filed,stoned or any number of other fitting proceedures.

you don't assess any level of wear on traded in weapons, that is on the vendor that is getting them.

I know the scratches didn't come from hitting someone. It was just a joke. My relative was the armorer in question . He used the frame, barrel, and slide from one of the better leftover guns and replaced all the springs with new ones. All the id numbers match so its all from the same weapon. It would make sense though that the whole weapon might have been thrown into a bin and got scratched that way. I like the termite idea tho. Those darn steel-eating termites are such a PITA!
