what is it's main purpose? HD? Zombie gun? 3 gun matches? Just be aware once you start down the NFA path...

First and foremost would be for the fun and knowledge/experience. I do plan on doing 3 gun eventually..going to look into handgun competitions and training first I think.

I'm not sure I'll do the barrel any time soon, so that's a non issue for now.

Update..

Removed gas block(PITA) and slightly increased the size of the vent holes. Got some new sights in, folding adapter for stock, and fore end.

Be aware with a folding stock you can't put on a drum magazine.

Rgr that, good looking out.

Thankfully, I'm not interested in the drum at all...but this ensures I'll stick with the 10 rd mags.

They want to sell you on it first I guess...see alot of other sights that do it with shortened versions too.

Looking real good! Even if you were interested in the drum, I'd get it. Just because the stock folds doesn't mean you have to fold it! :machinegun:

Doesn't matter, having the drum and an autoloading shotgun with a folding stock for it is still a felony.

It was about $150.

Go to carolinashootersupply.com or google it. They have parts kits that you can customize as well as pick different stocks.

I've shot it at the range, but they require slugs. I used federal 1300fps with no cycling issues on setting 3/4 with the V-plug. Will most likely be going south this weekend to visit the fam and shoot guns at a nice cheap outside range....which means bulk pack of birdshot from walmart to see how it runs now that I've increased the size of the vent holes.

Will take some pictures or video for anyone interested.

What if the drum holds 10 shells? or 13? That code section is explicit about the 12 rounder. Can you buy a 15 round 12ga drum?

If it holds thirteen, then it's "capable of holding twelve" by definition, isn't it? I haven't seen any Saiga drums with a capacity other than twenty, but there are probably others out there now.

As a practical matter, it's not likely to be enforced unless there's a real criminal act involved, much like how shooting a machinegun is more or less illegal in Virginia but it's never prosecuted in the absence of an actual crime (e.g. murder, assault, etc.).

Will shooting in a field of colorful flowers and soothing music help?

Figures! I don't think it would be fair for someone to get jacked up for using the ProMag drums, though. The drum ought to work for the charge to stick.

So I picked up low brass game loads from Wal-Mart for $5 a box (25). Just enlarged the vent holes a bit, nothing else done to improve gas flow.

Sorry Kory, couldn't find any flower beds to shoot in :P
