It had a wood stock option but it was slightly more expensive and I was advised against it as probably being poor quality wood- (a the fact the wood stock and hand guard version comes without sling mounts was a bit of a warning sign)

My first rifle

Shouldve went with the 10-22 IMO. I've had the gsg-ak and a gsg-5pk and both are finicky about ammo choices and both suffered from light strikes--- in the end I got rid of both

well from what i read it is defintely not a fan of the golden bullet from remington-needs HV rounds to cycle properly but they are still dirt cheap. Hopefully I will have better luck with it then you do, worst case scenario a bare bones 10-22 is only about $200 at Dicks if this turns out to be no good.

Every semi-auto .22 Rimfire has problems with ammo, either Remington Golden or Winchester or whatever. My 10/22 likes Remington but still doesn't feed 100% of the time. Same with Winchester.

Not true my 10/22 has everything I have put though it. I've shot Federal bulk, Remington bulk, fiocchi, and blazer bulk all without problems. The exception being maybe 2 jams out of thousands of rounds. It has been very reliable. That said for all I know the OPs gun will be also.

well the book for it definitely specifies HV .22lr saying non HV rounds may cause it not to cycle-so I am going to stick with that. Also pretty much every review and video i found while researching it claimed problems with Remington's golden bullets, which is I suspect because they don't generate enough pressure for it to cycle properly -at $3 a box for the hv rounds I am not really crying that i can't get the bulk cheap stuff

Agreed-- I have a 10/22 and a marlin .22 as well as a walther p22 that I have never experinced any light strike/ ftf problems with bulk ammo. Search ar-15.com for a thread titled gsg-5 modifications that shows how to modify the firing mech to increase reliability with the strucker mech

Well took the gsg out to Silver Eagle tonight, and put about 150 rounds thru her
(mostly CCI stinger)_I did have one jam but I am chalking that up to operator error as this was my first rifle experience.
She shot beautifuly, though it wasn't a real test since the indoor range is relatively short distance for a rifle, but even in my amateur hands she was fairly accurate ( I am sure the fact it was only a .22 helped).

here's me ( i need to hit the gym hard)
