Refinishing a revolver.
Anybody local to the Richmond area that does a good job of re-bluing a revolver? Specifically a Ruger Speed-Six.

Re: I know this is the Hunting Section....But....
I used to fish quite a bit. As a matter of fact, I quit hunting for years because bass fishing didn't drop off until after hunting season was over, if then. I was in a bass club and the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation for years. Fished all over the state, from Smith Mountain lake to Back Bay to the Pot...

Re: Tell me about Hi-Point Arms!
If I got four malfunctions out of one box of reloaded ammo with any gun, I'd be more inclined to blame the ammo than the gun, especially if that gun had already or later proved itself with known factory ammo.

Re: Tell me about Hi-Point Arms!
I've got a C-9, 9mm. I got it to see if they were as "bad" as "everybody" said they were. I'd never even heard of them until I started reading internet forums. Mine has worked just fine. I put about 2,000 rounds through it and had maybe a half dozen malfunctions and four of those...

Re: Firearm purchase application "delayed"
I get delayed every time, from ten minutes to 24 hours. I've got a common name but I put my SS number on the forms. I've gotten to the point where I usually start the process on Friday evening, then just leave and come back Sunday evening to pick up whatever I purchased. My wife on the other hand, g...

I was out all day yesterday. Didn't see a thing but squirrels and a fox. Still a good day in the woods.
Good Job VH.
Say. What's that brown, fuzzy thing under your tailgate there?

Re: Church Carry?
I will neither confirm nor deny that I carry to church. I will say my pastor, and deacons all know I carry. Nobody ever said "You better not bring that thing in here." I just remembered. I was leaving home here one day and one of the ladies at the church was here. She spotted my Colt 38 on...

Re: Reaction
My wife, who has a bad back, and knees and walks with a cane, got "attacked" by a couple of pit bulls once when we were living in Richmond. She was walking her dogs and they came after her, or more properly probably the dogs. She let her dogs go, and they fought the PB's in a tactical retr...

I hear that everytime I post that picture. A lot of people seem to want one. I guess I'll keep it. Might even shoot it one of these days. Who knows.Vahunter wrote:CajunBass if you or the lady ever decides to part with the Seneca let me know. I've been looking for one.

Re: What kind of muzzleloader/black powder firearms do you have?
I'm thinking about getting a cheap M/L to take advantage of the early deer season. I've been doing some squirrel hunting the last few weeks, and I've noticed that there are a bunch of deer hanging around the place now. The landlady told me yesterday that there were three in her garden right by the ...

Re: gun purchase delayed... & CHP question
I am always delayed. It doesn't matter what kind of ID I present. It doesn't matter who the president is. It hasn't mattered back to as far back as they have had the background check. It takes at least an hour, usually longer, and most of the time I simply start the process today, and "I'll be ...

Re: .22LR Rifles
Well, the big thing you'll need is a receiver, which people don't have laying around too often. Since it's the part with the S/N it IS the firearm as far as the ATF is concerned. Ruger will not sell just the receiver so you're pretty much stuck with having to buy a rifle to get one. There is an afte...

There is one guy there I will not let wait on me. If he's the only one available, I'll wait.
Sounds like the same guy though.

Re: Marlin Model 60 Jamming problem
I'd be willing to bet five bucks against a stale donut that it's just dirty.
While you're at it, clean the magazine tube. Both the outer tube, and inside the brass tube that slides into the tube. You'll be AMAZED at the crud that come out of there.

Re: .22LR Rifles
Remington HAD a magazine issue. Several years and a couple of magazine generations ago. They've corrected that problem now, and the 597 has turned into a pretty decent rifle for the money but this is the internet and old problems never go away. I've got one that I got for bad weather squirrel huntin...

I wasn't there so I can't say 100%, but I'd be willing to bet that nobody paid any attention to you. You felt somewhat out of place because you were doing something you're not used to doing so you noticed things that you wouldn't have noticed had you not been carrying. The same thing happens when yo...

Re: Ruger 10/22 at Dicks
10/22's are fun little rifles. I've got five of them. I never cared much for the plastic stock/stainless one, but I'm pretty much a blue steel/wood guy myself. Having said that, the only SS guns I do have are Ruger 10/22's. A Wally-World Special, and a SS Carbine with a green laminate stock (another...

Re: Carrying Advice?
First of all you are going to think everyone is staring at you. They aren't. NOBODY will notice if you make any attempt to cover up at all. Not soccer moms. Not cops. Not "little old ladies in tennis shoes." Not anybody. Shoot, most people don't even notice when I open carry. Those that do...
