Hey guys. I am looking to purchase a .22LR rifle would like some feedback on what rifle you own and
the pro's and con's. Thanks in advance. ^^

Ruger 10/22 is an awesome rifle. Semi-auto, good reliability, and so many customizations that can be done to them.

I have a 10/22 also that has been fairly modified..and seriously enjoy shooting that rifle... I also have a Marlin 22 WMG which i LOVE as it is able to put in the eye at 100 yards over and over and over and over... great rifle... i say this as althought it is a 22 Win Mag.. my close friend has the .22lr version and it is a tack driver as well...

i think that first you figure out if you are going semi-auto or bolt action, and then how much you have to spend, and see what is in your price range and go from there...

if $$$ is not an issue...buy a Sako for out-of-the-box Awesomeness

I've had my Marlin 60 for over 20 years and it hasn't let me down yet. I'm planning on getting a 10/22 sometime for plinking because of the 30 rnd mag and tactical kit I found for it.

For semi-auto, you cannot go wrong with a Ruger 10/22. And if you want tacticool, Ruger just came out with the SR-22, which from what I gather is the 10/22 receiver/action in an evil black rifle stock.

Wow I really like the tactical look. Hehe... But the suggested retail price is $625. =(
Thats a little too much. Maybe I can find something much cheaper used?

So far it looks like I am leaning towards the Ruger 10/22 compared
to the Marlin 60. Please correct me if I am wrong but looks like they both
appear to be close to $200 but I can do a lot more to the 10/22.

Anyone got links to the tactical kit for the 10/22 and how well it works?

If you give it a month or two, I'd bet the street price on that would be around $500... which is what you would pay for a 10/22 plus the good stocks.

I bought my Blackhawk Axiom R/F Stock at Dick's Sporting Goods for $90. You can get them many places.

There are two versions of the Archangel stock, I think. One is $99, the other $199. Looks like Cabela's sells them.

RB Precisions sells the Evolution stock for $189. One of my friends you has had his 10/22 much longer than I have had mine is gaa-gaa over this. RB Precisions seems to be a good place to go for good 10/22 parts.

I will be paying a visit to Walmart tomorrow. Hope they have some Ruger 10/22's for sale.
Got some recommendations for a good scope. (ahem not to expensive.)

I was looking to trade it since I never shoot it. In the 5 years I have had it, I have never shot it once.
To be honest I don't know where to go to shoot this thing and kinda scared to shoot this thing.

I want to get a .22 and get comfortable with shooting rifles.

Moss20 has that right, take the Mosin to Saunton and try it out. 7.62x54r is easy to find, make to the picnic tomorrow an i'll give you 50 rounds to try.

I actually have another Mosin Nagant with a pu sniper scope on it. I have not shot that one as well.
Was suppose to go with my brother and take up rifle shooting together but his job got him moved to
Florida, so I go alone. Guess what movie we watched that got us all pumped up to purchase these
rifles.

It really depends on what you want to do with the rifle...

Take a look over at www.rimfirecentral.com and you'll find a lot of info on the boards.... I've got a 10/22 that I've swapped the stock and and barrel (GM bull barrel) along with a Beretta Neos pistol (great pistol and modest price) The problem with the rifle now is its a bit heavy to carry around for squirrel and had hunting been a priority I'd have gone a different route. I'm wanting to do a Ruger conversion t 17Mach2 for the next one

It seems a lot of people are really happy with their 10/22's so I think I will be getting one.
I took a look at the 17Mach2 conversion kit and that looks really nice. I think I will have to get
more than one 10/22.

There are a number of very nice .22 rifles out there from CZ, Marlin, Ruger and more. It really depends on what/how you plan to use the rifle for. Most will serve multiple-roles to some degree but the great thing is that you can often buy/build/customize/shoot a .22 for far less than it would cost a centerfire.

There are folks out there with great reputations (like NemoHunter and others at farily low cost) than can tune a factory barrel (re-chamber, lap, etc) , tweak the bolt/trigger with amazing results and still looks like a stock rifle! Each brand has its fans as well as detractors so it boils down to personal preferences, needs, ergonomics and budget. But be warned, acquiring, shooting and customizing 22s can be habit-forming. My "cheap" Ruger cost me $199 from Dicks has since cost me (looking around to make sure the mrs isn't reading this) about another $300 for the barrel, stock and upgraded parts and there are a few more tweaks I wanna do in the future. And its kinda fun seeing folks stare at it at the range trying to figure out what it is

Right now I'm refurbishinging an old Ithaca 49 in .22mag similiar to the 22lr I got for my 8th birthday (40+ years ago). My original 49 put hundreds of squirrels/rabbits on the table for my family over the years and probably fed like numbers of rats/sky-rats to the farm cats. Once I'm done with it I don't plan to use it to hunt but hope to give it to a grandchild someday on her/his 8th birthday.

So far, I visited Walmart in Manassas and didn't see any Ruger 10/22's. Also checked Dick's in Manassas and saw a stainless steel with a plastic stock (i think) for $250. Still searching to find one for around $150. I think I will go shoot my P22 at Clark Brothers and see if I can find one. Let me know if anyone has seen a good deal some where. Thanks.
