Re: New Scope for the M4
Sweet setup! I got a laser boresighter (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/9-42986) that worked pretty well -- got me close so I just had to do minor adjustments to dial it in. How are the Magpul MBUIS working out for you? Have you had any issues with the plastic sitting on the gas block and heat?

My First 1911
I went to the Nation's Gun Show on Saturday hoping to find good deals on ammo but unfortunately prices are still way up. I was on my way out when I walked past Aaron Arm's table and saw a bunch of nice Sigs. I had been thinking of getting a 1911 for a while so the salesman didn't really need to work...

Re: Got my upper back from Sterling Arsenal!
so what is the advantage of the short barrel? easier to use when sweeping a room and turning corners? Just curious/ Still a Sig AR - I am jealous :) Yup, easier to go around corners in tight quarters. Also, since the SIG 516 is a gas piston AR it tended to be a bit front heavy. The 10" barrel ...

Got my upper back from Sterling Arsenal!
I have a factory SIG 516 7.5" PDW short barrel rifle. I bought it because I thought it would be cool suppressed. Well, I found out later that 7.5" is just too short to run suppressed -- I risk having baffle strikes and at that length there would be so much unburnt powder that it would kill...

Re: Carbine Classes
I also took the carbine class at Sig Sauer Academy when I first got my SIG 516. That class was taught out of Range 82 in Midland, VA. That was a one day class and it was okay -- the lecture portion ran long so we didn't get to do any drills except zeroing our ARs. The SEG carbine class was better, i...

Re: Carbine Classes
It was spread out when I took it but I actually liked it that way. There was a lot of material to cover and we went over the allotted time almost every class. I'm not sure you could get through all the material in one 8 hour class. The class I took was in the evening so the only downside was that I ...

Re: Carbine Classes
I took the Defensive Carbine 1 class at Silver Eagle Group earlier this year and enjoyed it a lot. Most of the students were running ARs, including a 7.5" AR SBR that was really loud (thank goodness for double hearing protection), one guy ran a SCAR, and I ran my MP5 clone. The course included ...

Re: My Sig Sauer Collection
Was the American Classic 1911 the one that was made in the Philippines? I think I saw that one and agree that it is a good starter 1911. It's pretty basic too so it might be fun to trick it out and learn more about 1911s. And at around $500 that leaves some money in the bank for accessories.

Re: My Sig Sauer Collection
I got a big case of sticker shock yesterday when I saw the Sig Sauer 1911s at Sterling Arsenal. If I get one it will probably be the basic.

My Sig Sauer Collection
Here's my Sig Sauer collection. I started with the SIG P229 and then I got a SIG 516 Patrol with a 16" barrel. To be honest I knew I wanted an AR but I was a total n00b and didn't know which one to get. I went with the brand I recognized, Sig Sauer, and luckily for me I have not had any issues....

Re: Amateur Gun Photography
I like taking pictures of my guns with a white background. Some think it looks boring but I like it. Here's what I did: Step 1 I laid down a "bright white" poster board on the table and placed the MP5 in the middle. There was a light above the table. I also used a flash gun mounted on the ...

Re: SIG 516 PDW SBR
I picked up a PWS CQB Comp today. I hope it helps minimize the flash and focus some of the noise forward. I will let you know after I take it to the range this weekend.

I took it to the range today to function test it. OMG! This thing is loud! It spits out a pretty big fireball too -- I think I burned off my eyebrows!

Re: Experiences at Silver Eagle?
Silver Eagle is a bit pricey but I just can't stand waiting 1+ hour for a lane every time I go to the NRA HQ Range so I am willing to pay the premium. It does get crowded especially when the Living Social groupies are in but the wait is still not as long as the NRA. I was just there this afternoon w...

Re: Shhh! Be quiet. (Suppressed MP5s)
great news! btw, is the yellow tape to let you know which ammo is subsonic? I color-coded my mags to tell them apart. Green for the brand new German HK mags that I know run 100%, yellow for the used LEO German HK mags that I take to the range, and red for the Korean ATI mags that run perfectly on m...

Re: SIG P229 9x19mm and Gemtech Multimount
I do a lot of practice at home aiming with both eyes open. I was taught that it's just a comfort level and am getting better at it. Obviously it's biggest benefit is situational awareness. man, you guys are tempting me to get a threaded barrel for my 229! Do it! Both Virginia Arms and Loudon Guns h...

Nice shooting! Now I gotta ask: are you using the stock sights or did you replace them with taller ones? Also, what's your favorite subsonic ammo for the SIG P229?chrismartin wrote:Here is a video of me shooting my Sig P229 with AAC Evo 9:
