Re: New Gun Store in Newport News?

"Sheriff's Ammo & Police Supplies" 15398 Warwick Blvd Newport News VA 23608 757-874-AMMO (2666) Full disclosure - I work there part time. I'm not trying to advertise here, as I've not worked out any sort of deal with the management here, and, honestly, I don't to want to feel like I'm ...

Re: The Hurricane Prep Thread

Out of power for a coupla days and had one little leak. That was it. It wasn't even noisy, as I boarded up my windows this time. The boarding system was neat. Basically cut a window-sized sheet of plywood and drilled holes for carriage bolts. Ran the bolts through and secured them, then drilled a 2x...

Re: New Gun Store in Newport News?

It's a police supply and ammo shop. No guns yet, but FFL paperwork has been started. Hours are usually 10-6 Mon-Sat, though if Luigi's is open ask for Vinnie and he'll open the shop outside of those hours. 5.11 Tactical is the store's primary line. Also carry Propper, some Blackhawk, knives, cuffs, ...

Re: The Marksman - Newport News

I think it's a matter of who you deal with. There's an older fellow with a beard that works there that is just great. He's always friendly and happy to just sit there and jaw, and he's very willing to help out new shooters. There's another younger fellow with a moustache that I've gotten really soli...

Re: RON HESS ARMS CO

I went in years ago and he rather solidly ticked me off with his dismissive attitude. I decided to give him another chance recently, and while he wasn't as bad as before, it was still horrible customer service. No more chances.

Re: DF&SS--Hampton Roads Hidden Secret

Kevin is totally worth dealing with. Yeah, the shop is a little hard to find and he's got a tiny little gun room, but his prices are on point and they're really good people. I will definitely buy from him again.

Warhammer players looking for new minis?

Yes, I'm one of those guys that plays tabletop wargames. Well, I did for a long time. Haven't had time to do it lately. I'm more of a painter than a player, and as a result I've accumulated a few thousand dollars worth of miniatures for WHFB and 40k (as well as other stuff like Warmachine). I'm look...

Re: Collapse of Society 4x4

Have we discounted a simple Jeep Wrangler, or Ford Ranger? I was thinking with a 4 cylinder diesel, and in 4x4... and not all "Lifted" but with thought planned out... you could be okay with that.. . Years ago I had an 83 Ford Ranger 4x4 longbed in 4x4. That was one of the most competent 4...

Re: Collapse of Society 4x4

I have an explorer that is my daily driver. Not a 4x4 though. For this area, 4x4 is just not all that necessary even in a SHTF scenario. No, I can't go mud-bogging with my exploder, but I will not really have a need around here. The sort of 'off-road' here will be just fine with my 4x2 and the possi...

I went with some friends a few weeks ago, and I was very impressed with C2. The staff is professional, the range controls are solid, and the facility was good stuff.

Re: WTB New Carry Gun

Macdiesel, I know you said no single-stack autos, but I figured I'd post anyway. I've got a Sig Sauer p232 in .380 that is very concealable, high quality, and has probably had no more than about 150rds through it. It's my mom's gun and she very rarely shoots. She's in Newport News, down near Ft Eust...

Hello from Tidewater

An acquaintance suggested this forum as a good place to make some connections, trades, etc. I'm a long-time shooter (first time I fired a gun was at the tender age of 5), and CWP holder. My eyes have gotten to the point where optics are necessary on rifles. As a result, I spend more time with my han...
