Re: Where to shoot in/near Winchester?
@steelheart: Thanks for the input. As to any range that is mostly open to the public, I have the flexibility to make my own schedule, so I try to go weekday mornings. I wonder if the Conservation Club is busy weekdays as well? Your advice to 'make friends with land' is a good one. Thankfully, there ...

Re: I Was Planning To Ask About AR15's, but...
If you could recommend one firearm for my purposes, what would it be? Kotar An AR-15 would be your best all-around rifle for HD, hunting, targets. Companies such as Sterling Arsenal could build a good multi-purpose rifle that would fill all of those needs. The next day I have free I plan to head to...

Intro To Holsters Video Series, from Brownell's
For those of you just learning about holsters, or who might be interested in learning a bit more about the materials and options available, Brownell's has a seven part video series on their web site that is very informative. All of the videos can be viewed here: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=14...

Where to shoot in/near Winchester?
We recently moved into the Winchester area. Where does everyone (anyone) go to shoot out here?
I mostly shoot with a pistol, but I hope to shoot with a rifle from time to time.
Suggestions?

I Was Planning To Ask About AR15's, but...
I have been researching AR15's, and I've followed both the recent thread and read through some of the archives for opinions and information. But, perhaps I should as a different question. Perhaps I should ask if an AR15 or something else is the right weapon to research and purchase. I want something...

Re: Crossbreed Mini Tuck (Leather) - How to eliminate squeak?
OK. I think I have (finally) gotten rid of the squeaking. Initially I thought the noise was primarily from the J-Clips (they plastic clips the velcro to my belt for maximum concealment). However, after using wax, and then saddle soap, the noise continued. I was rather annoyed with the continuing noi...

Re: Crossbreed Mini Tuck (Leather) - How to eliminate squeak?
Have you pinpointed where the noise is? I have a super tuck for my 226. The squeak came from the where the barrel end of the slide contacted the leather. I simply scuffed that area & the noise vanished. Not yet. I thought I had before I tried wax. The noise continues... I will work on one spot ...

Crossbreed Mini Tuck (Leather) - How to eliminate squeak?
I have a Crossbreed mini-tuck. It is part leather and part kydex. It's a nice holster, but recently I've noticed enough squeak that I am convinced people either think my sneakers are really annoying or I'm carrying. I've tried using a bit of wax on the pinch points to quiet the holster down. It help...

Re: Anyone recommend a great holster for a Taurus pt709 slim?
I've been using a Crossbreed Mini-Tuck for some time. It's been comfortable, but not perfect. Advantages: Quick draw (once accessed, such as moving your shirt). Reassuring "click" as the gun snaps into the kydex. Great conceal-ability, especially with their J-Hook package. It holds up very...

Zephyp,
OK, I'll ask... and expose myself as a Newb.
Why do you "always carry a coat hangar, a roll of black tape, and a bit of string" ?

Re: Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?
OK, I now have a few months experience, and I thought I would add my own thoughts. Thanks, by the way, to everyone who replied to my original question. I ended up purchasing a Crossbreed Mini-Tuck IWB holster. I seriously considered several, and I doubt this will be my last. I wear the holster as of...

Concealed Carry Techniques & Tips?
OK you experienced folks, help us beginners out. How do you carry, and what are your best tips to prevent making it obvious to others that you have a weapon on you? I've been trying an IWB holster, but unless I play with placement and wear a nice dark polo that is partially untucked (to create what ...
