It's only unheard of if your memory doesn't reach as far back as President Bush's administration. Otherwise you may remember that he grabbed/massaged Angela Merkel.Tweaker wrote:She grabbed her and gave her a big 'ol friendly squeeze like you might to an old pal. Quite unheard of.

Re: carry in someone else's residence
Does anyone else consider this to be a moral question rather than just a legal one? An issue of respect? I assume that most of the relevant cases would be ones where you're in someone else's home as an invited guest, and to me it would be quite rude and disrespectful to carry a weapon against a host...

Re: Florida legislature takes up firearms carry reform
Too bad carry--OC or CC with CHP--is prohibited by most VA institutions of higher learning with wide-scale firearms bans. Age 18 OC makes very little difference in the scheme of campus carry.gunderwood wrote: Or just allow OC at 18 like VA does.

Re: Sig P522 SWAT with Green Laser
Just remember you can't OC it with a 20+ round mag unless you have a CHP. I'd recommend a 20 rounder as your first mag and keep the 30s in a mag holster for reloads. Only applies "in the Cities of Alexandria, Chesapeake, Fairfax, Falls Church, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, or Virginia Beach...

Thanks for the link ProShooter, I found some good "ammunition" (TJ quotes) for my upcoming email composition to the UVA Chief of Police.

Re: Carrying in and around Charlottesville
I'm from Charlottesville, going to UVA, and have been carrying on and off since I got my CHP a few months ago (and OCed once or twice before that). "On and off" because UVA policy prohibits me from carrying/possessing on UVA property, so I only carry when I'm "home." So far, I ha...

Re: Walther PK380
So while I hesitate to "double post," this is a different topic from my last post but still PK380 related. I've handled the PK380 several times now and I really like it. I have a SW99 but I got my CHP recently and want something smaller/more easily concealable. I like Walther's "feel,...

Re: Walther PK380
Hi guys i just purchased the Walther pk380. i want to know if the body styles on the P99, P22, and Pk380 are alike enough so that i could us my pk380 in a P99 hulster its a dedicated fobus roto hulster. I carry my SW99 (same gun as the P99) in the Fobus roto holster and I can tell you with 85% cert...

Re: Question On Under 21 Handgun Ownership in VA
Hello there! I just turned 21 last month, and I spent some time researching your question before that happened! In Virginia, you can own a handgun if you're over 18, you just can't buy one from an FFL until you're 21. Private sales are still perfectly legal. You may have some difficulty buying ammo ...

Re: Will Tinfoil Help?
It's funny that the "tin foil hat" joke that has been invoked here is actually related to a solution to one of the issues raised. Not the hat part, but as far as IDs/DLs/passports with RFID chips in them goes, wrapping them in tin foil is, as I understand it, a viable way to keep them from...

Re: man accidentally shot himself
I think the more worrisome part of this article is the choice of words, "the gun accidentally fired." I think all would agree that it's a LOT more likely that it was user error--i.e. "the man accidentally shot himself"--and to blame the owner's error on the gun can only serve to ...

Re: Inserting a full magazine
I manned up and started carrying Condition One and now I don't have to clear/reload each day. I would say, examine your practices and WHY you do them to eliminate as many of these loading operations as you can. If you carry in Condition One, why are you reloading? I'm not sure what carrying in cond...

Re: Inserting a full magazine
Well, I just tried this out on a Glock 23 I have access to and found similar resistance with a topped off magazine, so I'm going to (based on that and the feedback I've received here) go ahead and assume that it's fairly normal in high-cap magazines at full capacity--that it's not something "wr...

No, the SW99 operates with a striker, so no hammer here...WRW wrote:You're not using a hammer, are you?
Seriously, thanks for the input. I didn't think it was that much to worry about, but wanted to hear what others have to say. Thanks!

And there's no danger of "crimping" a cartridge in a way that could cause it to misfeed or anything?

Inserting a full magazine
Hey all, quick question from a relatively new handgunner: I'm wondering how common it is to encounter a LOT of resistance when inserting a fully loaded magazine into an auto with the slide closed (like you would do if you had one chambered and then topped off and re-inserted the mag). As I mentioned...

Smith & Wesson SW99
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Smith & Wesson SW99. I bought one because I like the features, design, and feel of the Walther P99 (one of the biggest points being the easy to use magazine release located on the trigger guard) and the S&W/Walther version cost a...
