Re: Obama is a socialist.
Oh well, I tried. I know that trying to have a dialog concerning the social advantages or disadvantages of...pretty much any subject is a daunting task. But trying that at a gun forum is darn near (if not completely) impossible. It has been years since I attempted it. Perhaps in a few more years I'l...

Re: Obama is a socialist.
First, as Kreutz asked: what IS socialism? Here's a genrally accepted answer: ................................................................................ 1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of product...

Re: Obama is a socialist.
From my perspective there is quite a bit of hand-wringing and accusations hurled, such as "Obama is a socialist". But that in no way gives any indication as to there being anything "wrong" with "socialism". It's as if it can safely be assumed that everyone already agree...

A very well thought out article after Sandy Hook
Sam Harris is one of my favorite thinkers / writers. His latest website post is well worth reading.

Re: Finally switched over to IWB
My favorite carry method is IWB, but I have not used a holster in probably a year. I carry my Ruger SP 101 using a Clipdraw (www.clipdraw.com).

Re: In Virginia's Favor
I know I won't be able to convince anyone here, but it seems that most all agree that the US health care system needs fixing. Problem is, if the government doesn't fix it, or mandate how it should be fixed, the health care providers and insurance companies will skip along, business as usual. Unless ...

Re: MSNBC Slams Palin
...if progressives were merely amused by Palin they would have gotten tired of slamming her long ago... I don't know. It's kind of like whack-a-mole. She just keeps sticking her head out of her hole. And what's a "progressive"? Can someone offer their best Glen Beck definition (but it has...

Re: In Virginia's Favor
Looks like me and my two sons will just have to struggle along as we have the past few years, with no health insurance. At 52, severely underemployed, I just hope nothing serious comes along that an aspirin won't fix.
Just a guess - you guys have affordable health insurance, right...?

Conceal carry questions
Is it still unlawful to concealed carry with permit in restaurants that serve alcohol? I thought there was legislation on that. Also, I seem to remember that the law changed with regard to CCW in National Parks. Has that gone into affect? Also, is it lawful to open or concealed carry in VA state par...

Re: NPR story on girl hunter generates outrage
I didn't hear the story so I can't comment on it, but I am a regular daily listener to NPR, and an owner of several guns...and an animal lover. I don't hunt. I have no problem with people hunting and I have had deer and antelope meat several times. I guess if I could get past the ides of the risk of...

Got ya. I'll finish off the rest for fun. Not much left anyway.
You say "ammo like this". I haven't done much reading on different ammo. Is Lawman typically unreliable? Are there any other brands to shy away from for self defense?

Re: Mis fire...?
Yes darn-it, I meant soot
If I had to spell correctly to check out at Food Lion I'd starve.
They were not reloads, and yes, they acted like they had very little powder. Is that a common occurance? I have never experienced that before.

Mis fire...?
I recently loaded into my Ruger SP101, 4 rounds of Speer Lawman 38+p and one round of .357. The first two pulls were 38's with no problem. The 3rd was the .357 and it kicked my butt. The 4th pull made a pop and spark but no recoil. I stood there pointing at the target for about 30 seconds, then I sw...
