Re: What are you reading?
Vince Flynn's Term Limits. Amazing how what Flynn wrote back then seems so current today. That book is 12 years old and a lot of the issues in there read like last week's newspaper. I recently read "Gates of Fire: An Epic Novel of the Battle of Thermopylae" by Steven Pressfield. I really ...

Re: Got a GRIPE
This is a problem with forums like this. You are unhappy about being charged for an agreed upon service and you proclaiming from the websites about how bad this ship is. I bet that you did not check out the positive things that people have had to say about VA Arms. Here is one example http://vagunfo...

Re: Looking for a range bag.
It maybe a little late but i thought that i would chime in. I have a range bag from Hafner Worldwide (http://www.hafnerworldwide.com/cart/cgi/database.cgi?command=listitems&pos=0&type=group&group=shoot_bag). I picked it up at a gun show and I have been happy with it. If I had to buy anot...

To be honest with you guys I think that it is more of a project to keep him busy while he is away from his wife and kids. If I assemble a list he can sit an drool over catalogs and play "what if". Thanks for the input. Its time for me to start typing.

AR-15 Parts List
OK I am trying to help a buddy out. He is in the Navy and currently at sea in the gulf with very slow internet access. He asked me if I had a parts list to build an AR-15. I can find all kinds of parts lists on manufacturers site but ideally I am looking for an Excel file that lists everything. I ca...

Re: Silhouette Targets (Human)... OK in VA?
I do not think that they are illegal in VA, but I do know that some ranges do not allow them. If I remember correctly the NRA range for example does not allow pictures of real people. Simple black on white silhouettes are allowed.

Re: Blue Ridge Arsenal
I dont know why folks insist on spending more than they need to for ammo by visiting local establishments that have high prices...many good deals to be had on the internet and you can do all your browsing sitting in your underwear while scratching yourself and drinking beer... :hysterical: Heres a ...

Re: Blue Ridge Arsenal
Are you talking about the NRA range? I have never been to Blue Ridge, but I would say that it would be really hard to beat the NRA range (as far as indoor ranges are concerned). I believe that they are only about a 15 minute drive from each other.

Re: How are Pistol-Training classes?
I have not taken one of Todd's classes, but have only heard good things about them. I have seen him shoot and he is a good shooter, but more importantly he really takes the teaching and training aspect seriously. I have dealt with lots of people that are good at doing something but crappy with teach...

Re: Weapon Shield - Anyone use it?
I have heard good things about it. I got a sample needle oilier from them. It seems to work well enough, but I really have not done any sort of controlled testing. I was at the range when the woman next to me shooting kept experiencing jams after shooting a bunch of dirty ammo. The Weaponshield defi...

Re: Remington 700 308 - Short Action?
Option II-- :enlighten: measure the distance between the forward mounting and rear mounting holes, use that to get the correct base. So what is the distance between the holes for a short action? What is the distance between the holes for a long action? The bases that I am looking at do not call out...

Remington 700 308 - Short Action?
I want to get a one piece scope mount for my rifle, but I am not sure if I need a long action base or a short action base? Are all .308s short action or can .308 be used in either action?

Firearms in the workplace
Does anyone know if it is legal for an employer to ban have a legally owned firearm in your personal vehicle? I have heard of a place where the published policy is that you are not allowed to have a firearm in your vehicle in the company lot and you are not allowed to have a firearm while driving fo...

... One thing that can put a kink in it is if the felon is on parole or probation and conditions of the parole or probation is that no firearms will reside in the home with him. ... Why does it have to be "him" that has the felony? Maybe she went all Carrie Underwood on her ex's truck :pi...

Barrel Polishing with Final Finish
Has anyone out there tried David Tubb's Final Finish system (http://www.davidtubb.com/finalfinish.html) for breaking-in or polishing a barrel? There was an article in a recent issue of Rifleman that spoke positively about it but I am always wary about magazine reviews. So is there anyone out there t...
