Re: Ranges close to Alexandria

Another range has limited members, with a 20-24 month wait, with a sizable fee, and requires two members to recommend. That must be Fairfax Rod and Gun club. I know a guy that shoots there, but he is not a member. He is more of a rifle shooter, but from what he tells me, it would be a good place to...

Re: Oregon Word Police

I know a lot of people, myself included, that qualify as an engineer under that last point. If you need a device, and you can see it in your head, then build it, hey, you're an engineer. Sort of. There is such a thing as a Professional Engineer (PE). You can't call yourself a PE using the dictionar...

Re: A Day Without Women

My wife is a teacher, although not in Alexandria. If she wants a day off and she is not sick, she has to put in a request for a day of personal leave. The key word in that sentence is "request." Until a substitute volunteers to take her class, it is a request. The school district can disap...

I think article was for guns manufactured in the United States. It's pretty doubtful that Henry made more guns overall than Glock.

I On the topic of changing tires, since Dorm brought it up, my sister has a boyfriend in high school, and they went out in her car, one night. Shortly after they left, my father received a call from my sister, who had gotten a flat tire, and she asked him to come help her. Well, Dad got there, and ...

Re: Ruger 22 45 anyone?

The new Mark IV is much easier to disassemble and is a big improvement. However, Ruger jacked up the price a bit.

The older models are a pain to completely take apart. Not impossible, but not trivial either. The guns are great, fun to shoot, and very reliable.

Re: Double barrel shotguns

I am looking for a double barrel shotgun, but the low end of the cost scale. I have been looking at stoeger side by side in a 20 gauge and 20 inch, does anyone have one of those and have any comments? The Stoegers are around 500 or under. Let me know if you have a comparable model as well and any f...

Only 400 hp? I think my 15 year old 4 cylinder Toyota might make 150 hp.

Connolly is my representative too. He started as a local politician on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, then became chair, then our representative to Congress. I didn't like him when he was on the BoS, and I don't like him now. Most of the politicians up here are pretty liberal, but not all,...

I live in northern Virginia. There are pros and cons to the area, but I've called it my home for the last 25 years.

When you make it up here, post a message and we can tell you about the local gun ranges and stores.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Re: Will the Libertarians cause the election of Hillary?

By all means, punish the republican establishment for their sins; but wait and do it when it won't punish the rest of us, too. Yeah, yeah. I heard that when McAuliffe was elected. Exactly how long are we supposed to wait for the Republican party to get their act together? How long will the Republic...

Re: NOVA Classes, Ranges, etc...

I shoot at Sharpshooters, which would be about 10 miles from Vienna. The range itself is OK. They have a good selection of guns. I've seen signs there for training, but have never taken a class there so I don't really know what they offer. I have seen some people providing personalized training ther...

I live in the community next to Burke, and visited my mom in Burke this evening.

This guy is an idiot. He's also an SES, but maybe not for long.

I'm surprised that he wasn't charged for brandishing, especially in Fairfax County. He's also very lucky.

Re: SCOTUS Overturns Mcdonnell's Corruption Conviction

No one is perfect... if we look for a possible candidate 99% beyond reproach, we will never have a candidate. This wasn't like he got caught for a youthful indiscretion like underage drinking when he was 18 years old. It's not like someone gave him a commemorative coffee mug that was $2 over the $2...

Re: SCOTUS Overturns Mcdonnell's Corruption Conviction

I don't like McAullife and the democrats, but I think what McDonnell was very wrong. He had a guy throwing money at him and his wife while he was an elected official! I don't care how you spin it, that's just wrong. I'm a government employee and wouldn't consider accepting anything more than a cup o...
