Vote yourself a gift, or work for a living and provide it

Post by allingeneral »

This has been around a time or two, but is worth reading again.

###
Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."
"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

The Obituary follows:

Born 1776, Died 2012

It doesn't hurt to read this several times.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in  St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:
Number of States won by:          Obama: 19          McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by:      Obama: 580,000    McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by:    Obama: 127 million  McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:  Obama: 13.2   McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the  United States  is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA  in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

This is truly scary! Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional   Republic . Someone should point this out to Obama. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The Constitution. There couldn't be more at stake than on Nov 2012.

If you are as concerned as I am please pass this along.

Unfortunately I think we are quickly becoming outnumbered by those who live off of the government's hand outs; and these yahoo's are going to keep voting for whoever promises more. So yeah, we're doomed. Stock up on your ammo for the coming repression.

I'd be interested to know where Professor Olson got his data. I like to fact check things before I pass them on or quote them.

My guess is he is pretty close. Check out any blue/red color coded 2008 election map. Note that 99% of the blue where obama "won" is urban and large cities. 99% of what mccain won is country and rural. I know that for a fact and would say it probably tracks closely with the stats listed above.

That was my first thought too. Seems to me that if we didn't have the electoral college the "blues" wouldn't stand a chance.

What scares me? The far southern region of Texas, right on the border... All "BLUE"... What happened to Texas "independence"?

I have all but given up on Virginia every going back to "pure red". We have too many Come'heres, and Transplants that complain about taxes in their former states, but vote EXACTLY the same way as before. Thereby causing the SAME problems! :roll:

Some of the "Newbies" are a'ight though. They moved here for economic, and civil rights (IE: GUN RIGHTS), and have the correct attitude of "adapt to my new home", not "YOU need to change for ME!" which I experience... often.

We had a constitutional republic, it no longer is. We've made changes such as allowing for the popular election of senators and generally don't follow the document one bit (besides lip service).

This might sound racist, but it's not. The answer is immigrants who get a free handout. If your getting something for free, who do you want in office?
The dude who's going to keep the gravy train rolling.

I'm still registered to vote in San Antonio (Bexar County) and it is usually a pretty close split there; but Austin (typical liberal town) is always solid blue as well.

Whoa, wait, youre complaining about South Texas (essentially North Mexico) being solidly Democrat, whilst pining for more red? Would it really make a difference?

I just like to think of Texas as being the "Fallback" point when the Fed loses their cotton-picking mind, and starts "DHS'ing" everyone with random car searches, and "piss-thin" probable cause warrants.

Not a good track record for warrants in that state......

Yeah "fall back" to all those illegals right?
