My guess is that these folks were professional stunt folks that worked up this act. They probably trained for months to be able to, convincingly, look like idiots. I think the reason that no one was shot had to do with tight choreography.

Why would they do this? For the same reason people will walk on a wire suspended between the tops of two tall buildings, or put flaming torches in their mouths, or swallow swords. Applause is addictive.

So someone mentioned that this video was from American Defense Enterprise in the comments so I did a little research and it's true.
