Here's a short note from the VGOC president asking for our help in the upcoming VA governor's race. Mike provides phone numbers below for each candidate. Links to each website are just below if you also want to write a note to each or either.

Will Virginia ’s next governor restore, destroy or maintain the status quo for your right to keep and bear arms?

It all depends upon how hard you and I work this summer to take advantage of the opportunity we have been given as a result of the nomination of Senator Creigh Deeds for governor by the Democratic Party of Virginia.

The Republican Party nominee, Bob McDonnell, will now have to shed his anti-gun record and make some promises to win the governor’s mansion.

And Creigh Deeds, whose actual voting record on guns is hands down better than McDonnell’s, will have to make the same promises to overcome his waffling on guns during the Democratic Party primary.

When politicians are motivated to compete for the gun vote, you and I win.

Gun owners can capitalize on this GREAT OPPORTUNITY by asking the candidates to sign a simple pro-gun pledge committing to a bare minimum of pro-gun reforms.

You will be hearing more about the pro-gun pledge later this summer.

But right now, am asking you to help me kick off a summer-long phone call campaign.

Please call the candidates on the repeal of the dangerous ban on self defense in restaurants and report back to me what they say.

Our next round of calls will be based on those reports.

Please ask each candidate if they will promise in writing to work to get the same version of the restaurant ban repeal that Governor Kaine vetoed this year to the governor’s desk and sign it.
