Fort Lee POW Range.

Post by Dragonfly »

Visited the Personally Owned Weapons Range this afternoon (6/14/09) and it was quite a busy place, the RCO told me that they had over fifty shooters last Sunday and this week most likely the same or more. The MWR folks that are running the range where very friendly and helpful, the range and facilities are in excellent condition and targets where available for purchase. For those that load their own ammo, they do sell the Brass by the pound. Unfortunately I can’t remember if she said $1 or $11 per LB. My next trip will be on a Wednesday evening however I was told to call first and to make sure that the range is open.

What were you shooting? What were others shooting?

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that the place is staying busy.

I was shooting my 9 mm XDm and PM9. Most had hand guns but there where a couple of shotguns and one with a AR-15. Had my Viridian on my XD and even on a sunny day I saw the dot on the target at 20 ft (shaking all over the place)

Has Ft Lee opened a rifle range now? Last I heard only 22lr. That would be great if it has a 100yd rifle range or longer

Shot there on Wednesday. Its well worth the effort. I was able to sight in at 25 yards, practice 3 target transitions from 15 to 25 yards, and they will allow drawing from a holster and mag change practice. No movement, but great for flat footed practice.

Does anyone know if this place is closed for the season. Last two times I have gone the front gate has been locked - couple wednesdays ago and this past sunday. Luckily the Smoking Gun is nearby.

I did call today and they are open to the public this Sunday. The woman said that sometimes they schedule training on Sundays or Wednesdays and then the place is closed to the Public but call if you have a long way to travel
