Looking for pistol scope suggestions, and manufactured loads.

Since we're talking about artillery, you're going to need a bigger optic too :hysterical:

How good a pistolero are you?
How stable of a rest are you working from?

I've got a 2-7x Burris one one of my cannons, but can't hold it steady enough to really use is above 3x.
Some of the other cannons wear accudots. I really love them as they are an adjustable size red dot and have stood up to even my 500 S&W.

IMO the 454 is a < 100 yard gun in a handgun configuration, so my 2 moa accudot does most of what I need.

Factory loads probably don't get any heavier than Buffalo Bore:

Runs around 1600fps, barrel length depending.

With that load only 250 FPS off of their .460 S&W something seems a bit off.

Double tap, also known for the higher level loads lists their 300gr load at 1650

Either way the 454 is a nice cartridge... And it really shines in a carbine, gets you up close to 45-70 power levels.

Yeah, I was looking at a single shot .45-70, but Greentop sold it before I got a chance to hold it.

So I dropped in, and put this on layaway...

YUP! I had thought about getting a nice lever action to go with it eventually.

When Bill said "Whaddya plan on using it for? " I couldn't resist. " ...'Squatches..."

THAT's the information I was needing! I appreciate it!
