Just looking at your criteria, a Marlin 336 can be had for under $200. They're lever action rifles. If you want something with more of a military flavor, look at a SKS. Ammo is readily available for both.
You won't get a new one In your price range, but should be able to find a serviceable used rifle if you look around. I'm not from NoVa, so maybe others can chime in on what else to look for, and where.

BYW, is this a first rifle? Have you considered a rimfire? They can be found cheap, shoot cheap ammo, and are lots of fun.

Too wide of a criteria...

If this were "vehicles", what you just opened yourself up to was Motorcycles, trucks, scooters, cars, etc.

If you're looking for a "first time" medium range semi-auto rifle?

I would go with a used SKS as New suggested.

Decent 10 rounder, very accurate to around 300+meters (maybe more depending on the rifle), easy to maintain, ammo is inexpensive, and you have a plethora of accessories with which to personalize it.

I haven't seen an SKS or Marlin 336 for under $200 in quite a while, but they're out there for $200-300 for sure.
If you care for bolt action MilSurps, Yugo Mausers are usually $150-200. M24/47 and M48. The 24/47 is cheaper of the two. I think the Swiss K31s are generally over $200 these days but worth a look.

Too bad you're not into the Mosin Nagants. For $200, that's a rifle and $100 worth of ammo.

Like someone already suggested, maybe a .22LR rimfire is a better choice.

I said not intersted in the MN becasue i have kinda looked them up and i dont know exaclty where to find it and the closest gun store is an hour away and where to get the ammo for it. I dont think that dicks or walmart would have 7.62x54r in their stocks.

Ammo is available to be shipped to your door from an online store. You gun store might carry mosins just call ahead.
I think if you can look around and find a good deal on a k31 that would be a great rifle just for fun.

Mosin Nagants can be easily found at gun shows, although some are overpriced. You need to be an educated shopper. I bought several online from J&G Sales (www.jgsales.com), and have been very pleased with all of them. Ammo is cheap online. For the best prices, check AmmoEngine (www.ammoengine.com). If you need more info on why you should buy a Mosin, check this link: http://www.7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm. Good luck!

Aim Surplus has Mosin Nagant for usually for $69.95, although they are out of stock right now. When they do have them they want you to have an 03 FFL so they can ship directly to you. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx? ... ant+Rifles

Ammo is $79.95 for 440 rounds ($0.18 per round) and can be delivered to your door without the FFL. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx? ... groupid=40

A Mosin that hasn't been abused will be as accurate as any other bolt action milsurp rifle. The problem is finding one that hasn't been beat like a rented mule.

If you hunt you may turn up another kind of centerfire rifle for under two hundred, but - other than the Mausers mentioned earlier - you'll have to do some serious scouring and be willing to accept that you may wind up with oddball guns in oddball calibers. You'll find more options in the $300+ range.

Awesome. I figured one of these would be pricey. I'll add it to the list, it's that badass.
I'll probably get one next year if I have money to burn. Good collectors item.

If you save for a lil' Remington has a whole package for about $289 at Gander Mountain. It's based on an inexpensive Model 700 design, called the Model 788.

Includes optics as well. Uses the same 5 round detachable box mag as well.
