Democrat Primary Update from VGOC

Post by zephyp »

Here's a note from the VGOC President about yesterday's Democrat primary...and from the news this morning it looks like Deeds is indeed the winner.

-----------------------------------

It is 8: 44 PM and I am taking a risk and calling the democrat primary race for Creigh Deeds.

THIS IS GREAT NEWS for gun owners.

Mr. Deeds slipped a little last session but his voting record as a senator beats Bob McDonnell's record hands down.

Bob McDonnell, known as "Gun Ban Bob," is the Republican nominee.

A Deeds/McDonnell rematch (McDonnell beat Deeds for Attorney General by a couple hundred votes) is the best possible scenario for gun owners.

McDonnell has been talking much more pro-gun since he became attorney general in 2005.

Political insiders say he wants to leave his anti-gun record (which includes voting against the hunting and fishing amendment, supporting the one-gun-a-month gun rationing scheme, and supporting the restaurant ban when he was in the House of Delegates) behind him. Deeds voted correctly on all those issues.

In fact, both Deeds' opponents, McAuliffe and Moran, beat up on Deeds during the campaign for being consistently pro-gun and supporting the repeal of the restaurant ban.

Deeds in the race will put pressure on Mr. McDonnell to publicly change his position on gun rights.

Either way, we hopefully will have a governor who will protect our gun rights far better than rabid anti-gun Tim Kaine.

Stay tuned to turn the pro-gun heat on these two candidates in the Governor's race.
