Izaac Walton Loudoun

Post by babarsac »

I've just moved back to Virginia from Florida and am missing living right next to a public rifle range. After reading up on the different ranges and clubs availible in northern Virginia I would have to say that I'm very interested in what the Isaac Walton League has to offer. I'm an avid shooter but have always wanted to learn how to hunt\fish. I also enjoy introducing family and friends to the sport. Any current members here who can tell me more what it's all about?

Is this the one that's off of route 704? If so they used to have clam/oyster dinners that were great, that was rather a long time ago though. The lake was a tad bit overfished. I'm not sure about the hunting as we didn't hunt then.

I am a member if the IWLA...the range is great, except no blackpowder that is not in pre-measured cubes/cylinders...
but i have found the folks are reasonable...they have their way, but go along to get along... the rates are very resonable, the place is open 24x7... (ranges are open Mon - Sat from 9am to 7pm) ... 8 point skeet range, archery, fishing, camping, open area for kids, and the abilty to disappear and get away from it all...priceless

I like and it works for me...and would, and do, very much recommend it for others with similer tastes...and once you shoot outdoors, for me, there is no going back inside...

ps...they do require 9 hours of volunteer work per year...i come out and pick up brass and clean the range...which i would do anyway, so i donl;t even notice...
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.
