AR Bump-firing Stock

Post by Chasbo00 »

Bets on how long it will take the ATF to ban this?

Looks pretty cool but I doubt it will stay legal for very long...

I think I will pass on that, maybe it is because I have been to the range too many times with a real machine gun, or maybe it is because I can't find the time to shoot as often as I'd like now or in my eyes it is just a way to waste even more ammo.

Disclaimer- I am not saying it is illegal, should be illegal, is destined to be illegal. I am just saying it is not for me. When it comes to scaring folks, a single shot hitting the target is far more demoralizing than hosing down an area.
You just have to ask yourself, is he telling you the truth based on knowledge and experience or spreading internet myths?

I'm conflicted.

On the one hand, I alkready burn enough ammo, and like Grumpy, I tend to concentrate on hitting the target with one good shot rather than hiding it in a cloud of hot lead.

But (1) that is pretty cool and I have not been exposed to military full-auto weapons, and (2) If they outlaw it, I want to already have it just because I resent it being outlawed.

So I ordered one.

Ain't said for sure yet that I'm coming. Don't know for sure yet. Can't help it.

Other thing is, the only AR-15-type I've got besides the .50 Beowulf is a mint-condition unfired (so far - I just really haven't had time since the mountain thawed out enough to go) Colt. I sorta hate to butcher it up to put the bumpfire stock on it. So I'm studyin' 'bout whether to buy another AR to put the stock onto (or components to build incorporating it). Means I'll have to delay my acquisition schedule for new 1911s. So when I get it, it may have to wait until I can come by a gun for it. Such agonizing decisions I'm confronted with in my old age!

Oh, well. You know what they say......... "Life's a bitch and then you die." 'Cept I had one buddy who used to say "Life's a bitch and then you marry one.", but I never really subscribed to that. And if I did, I wouldn't say it. Might end up like my buddy with my wife burying me like she couldn't get rid of me quick enough. Oh? is my mind wandering again, nurse?

Someone once made a 10/22 stock like this it didn't last long.

Big difference between the Accelerator and this stock. The Accelerator had a spring in it that made it fire automatically, i.e. not bumpfire. This stock is just a stock, and there's nothing allowing the gun to keep firing but the manipulation of the user, just like with other forms of bumpfiring.

Like I've said before, classifying this as a machinegun would open up a massive can of worms.

I was at Silver Eagle Group in Ashburn this afternoon and saw the SSAR in action! The guy in the lane next to me had one and was firing short bursts. It looked like it worked pretty well although he did have a couple of FTEs. The FTEs may have been due to something else though. I did not try it out.

The reason I went to Silver Eagle was to test out my new MP5 pistol (I got it on Monday.) Anyway, the guy with the SSAR also had an MP5 -- with a full-auto sear! He offered to let me shoot his MP5 and I gladly accepted. Thanks, Mark, for letting me shoot your rifle. Now I need to start saving up for a sear -- I am hooked!

Cool what's the cost of a FA sear?

That is true there a signification difference. But then again the ATF has open cans some very large cans of worms before. Let's hope it stays legal.

HK sears usually run about 12-14k. 10k is a great deal. But there are several permutations of sears (especially if one includes trigger packs), as different manufacturers made them differently, so some are more desirable than others.

Plus you have to figure in the cost of host guns (2k for clones, 4k and up for original HKs), and the fact that many of them need specialist gunsmithing to run right, and it's not a cheap option.
