carrying everywhere

Post by newdovo »

I've gotten into the habit of carrying whenever I can. I can't carry to work, but outside of that, I usually do. One evening this weekend, we had a birthday party tour for my youngest daughter. We took the kids to the nail salon, the children's museum, restaurant for dinner, and another place for ice cream; then home for the sleepover. I CC'd the whole time we were out. No big shakes to many who carry regularly.
Our neice came along with her daughter (close in age to mine). She is gun friendly, and has one for home defense, and her husband is a casual hunter. But she is fascinated with the fact that I carry concealed. Whenever we see her, she makes it a point to see if I am carrying at different events. Somtimes she'll greet me with a hug and inconspicuously pat me around the waist. She patted me on party evening, as well.
Later in the evening, she asked if I was carrying. I said "Yeah, but not cross draw", which was where she had patted me down most. She asked where and I said "Concealed is concealed", my standard answer. She actually looked relieved at the fact that I was carrying. BTW, I was carrying on my belt at 3 o'clock.
I've recently started carrying my .357 wheel gun, Ruger GP100, which is a bit larger than my regular carry j-frame. The first few times my kids noticed, when hugging or bumping me, they said "what's that?". When I showed them, the response was surprise. Not at the larger gun, but more like "Oh, you don't usually have that one with you." :)

One of my students asked me yesterday "How often do you carry?". My answer was "I never leave the house without a gun".

Its just a tool like everything else Ya gotta have it with you!
