PA Non-Resident Permits by Mail - Last Call

A PA Non-Resident Permit costs $26, is good for five years, and it's honored by GA (VA permits are not honored by GA). If you think you might want one, now is the time to act unless you don't mind applying in person in PA. You can still get a PA non-resident permit by mail, but only for a short time. The following appears on the Centre County Sheriff's Web site:

"License to Carry Firearms Applications Via Mail to be Discontinued on March 31, 2011

As the result of requirements of Act 66, 2005, applicants must have their photo and signature captured electronically into our system. At this time there is no manner to complete these requirements without the personal appearance of the applicant.

Therefore we will not be able to process any mailed applications received after March 31, 2011."
