Wisconsin's 'Anti-Union' Hysteria

Post by Kreutz »

http://news.yahoo.com/s/dailybeast/1258 ... 5zaW5zYW4-
We’ve certainly seen a full range of left-wing-nuttery at the protests, from the obligatory Nazi/Hitler comparisons on signs to Democratic elected officials getting into the overheated action. Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA) declared his solidarity with the mob, saying “every once in a while you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary,” while the esteemed Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) said, “There is an unbelievable parallel and a real connection that I can readily identify with the people in the streets of Cairo and Madison, Wisconsin.” Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) just cut to the chase and called Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker a “dictator.”

To top off the ugliness, there has been a mini-Twitter rampage of kindly folks calling for Walker’s death. They’ve forgotten about Gabby Giffords pretty fast, and the outrage should be more widespread than it’s been to date. But too often, situational ethics is the operative mode in politics, causing partisans to excuse the inexcusable as long as it comes from their side. The attitude seems to be “they may be crazy, but they’re our crazies.”
Figured I'd share this before someone beat me to it.

They are all lunatics. Both sides.

The unions want more power. The government is desperately trying to cut costs and save jobs.

Neither side will end up winning. "Compromise" is when nobody gets what they want. Time to cut the cord.

I have no problem with unions. I do have a problem with people making money at the less fortunate's expense. As to death threats against Gov. Walker, he should use the shroud granted him and claim those who have threatened his life to be terrorists. This surely would fall under the terroristic threats, right? Oh, my bad he is a republican so he's apparently fair game.
What a shame, what a country, what a mess!

IMHO, unions are the scourge of the earth. Good idea way back when they were needed but now they wreck and ruin companies.

Most of us bristle at government controls. What about union controls. In most states the union calls the shots and for some professions joining the union is mandatory along with paying the dues. Sounds pretty fascist to me...first they bleed the employees dry then they start on the companies.

Wylde, I haven't been paying attention to much of the specifics of the Republican democratically ELECTED leadership's efforts to stave off financial ruin, but what or who are you referring to that has exhibited "crazy" behavior from that side? I haven't seen it. I can trust that the libtard media would certainly play that on a non-stop highlight real if it was on display, and I have not seen that.

A teacher no doubt...what gets me is when the left had power they shoved their agenda down our throats while chanting "we won." Now that the shoe is on the other foot they run and hide while crying foul foul foul.

The left is foul...

In Wisconsin, thanks to the generally liberal mindset up there, unions got a head start and have gone faster toward the inevitable result of unionism; i.e., year after year of justifying the union's existence (and hefty dues cut out of paychecks) with more money until the cost of the union labor can no longer be borne. Do not overlook that one of the "worker's rights" the union and the liberals are so upset about losing is their "right" to checkoff. That is to say, to have the employer deduct their union dues from their paycheck and hand it over to the union. How long do you think most unions would last if the organizer/steward/local president had to stand at the employee exit door on payday and collect the dues from his members face-to-face out of money they already had in hand.

Somebody already said it; unions were justified in many cases back when they were needed. But they are an unsustainable anachronism.

Exactly as long as government would be able to collect insane taxes from the people if not for "withholding".

Great system, don't you think?

Q&A regarding the Wisconsin shutout:

http://overmycoffeecup.webs.com/-%20New ... 5B1%5D.pdf

Exactly as predicted - the union statist thugs are not willing to pick up any of their own tab, they want the taxpayers on the hook for the entire amount. This is the same kind of gibberish they argued last year in Jersey when Gov. Christie asked them to take a ½% pay cut and contribute 6% to their own medical plans... FOR ONE YEAR... in order to same hundreds of teaching jobs.

No. These idiots do not understand what compromise means, and that without it - NONE OF THEM may be going back to work.
