Took him long enough didn't it? Obama's even got the stones to tell Egypt to "Change". IMHO he doesn't come across as a good foreign relations president considering all that bowing and apologizing nonsense while over there. Really did the US's reputation a lot of good to see him grovel in front of other world leaders..Now let's see just how much he'll take before acting and then probably too late.

Call me stupid but why in hell are we sending marines to the US embassy in Cairo? Why not pull our people out of there completely and let the guy who turns off the lights toss a few willie pete's in after its dark...
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

I think he should wire the place up and give em the keys when he leaves ,,,Leave enough time on the fuses to get far away and listen to the parting gift..

Marines are usually the ones guarding American embassies. They've been doing this longer than I've been around.zephyp wrote:Call me stupid but why in hell are we sending marines to the US embassy in Cairo? Well, well...... It didn't take that long to see the increase in more of our nations protectors taken off their posts to go to another foreign entities defense. I hate to say it but, "told ya so!"
The marines are a nice way to say, "Back the hell up!" Our embassy isn't worth the threat these men will face, and personally I wouldn't give a plug nickel for the land it sits on. We have a substantial investment in Egypt, thanks to Carter, and we should at the very least "peek" in on whats going on. The media will not tell the whole story because if they did the whole middle east would explode into warfare. The marines will insure America is "eyes up" so when the muslim extremist finally take over, we can see our next target. IMHO, that is.

Unless they send an entire Division, all the Marines can do is make sure everyone gets out and that someone turns off the lights when we leave.

I hope this is the plan. Again; Carter/Iran - there were what, four Marines and not a real bullet between them?wylde007 wrote:Unless they send an entire Division, all the Marines can do is make sure everyone gets out and that someone turns off the lights when we leave.
A Rifle Company and a few Bradleys should do the trick.

Just hold the place long enough to get our citizens out. There is no practical reason to stay behind and actively engage anyone.
Hell, gas and burn the place on the way out for all I care.

Yeah the place sucks, been there. But if they get a chance to close down the suez canal, we'll be paying $10 a gallon for gas.

ooooooo Rah...Marines, first in and last out.
They probably did send more Marines to the Embassy to reinforce the Marines that were already there. Another aspect to think about is the Embassy is considered US territory. It can be used as an initial staging point if we decide we need to send in more support.

The Tipton isn't bad. It works well for normal rifles, but not so well for larger ones.
