Looking to buy my son his first shotgun a 410

Post by davasmith »

Hello, I am looking to buy my son his very own first shotgun. I want it to be a 410ga and would prefer a modern one. Single shot, or bolt as long as its sound and reasonably priced we can deal. If you have any ideas pm me or email me at: davasmiths@aol.com
Looking to buy now. Unfortunately, the gun show did not have what I am looking for. Thanks.

If .410 is the way you want to go find a Rossi combo .22/.410 Comes with both barrels and won't rape your wallet. I bought my grandson one and it was around $150.00 new.

How old is your son, what do you want to use it for and what kind of budget are you looking at?

That little .410 of VaHunter's is a pretty neat little gun. Here's a link to the Rossi website with a good description

http://www.rossiusa.com/whatsnew-matchedpair.cfm

and here's a link to one for sale @ $129.99

My son is 6 stands 4ft 2inches and weighs approx 100 lbs. He's a big boy very stocky and so he needs a longer gun. I tried a snake charmer with him at the gun show and it was small for him. My budget is less than 200.00 for a used shotgun. The rossi is a nice looking gun, however he will need a longer stock.

Thank you to all who have replied. I appreciate your input.

Granted a .410 dosent need a recoil pad they can add length to the stock. I think you can get models that will extend up to around 2". Could be an option.

Can't go wrong with H&R/Pardner! My first shotgun was a 12 ga. youth version of this, and I recently purchased the H&R ultra slug 20 ga. version. I love the slug gun, but have out grown the 12 ga.

This is a single-shot .410, 26" bbl., 14" LOP. MSRP $147

They also make the same thing with 22" bbl., 12.5" LOP. MSRP $158

You should be able to find either for under $150.

H&R Pardner is not a bad gun. I've got one in 12 gauge under my couch...00 buck is the ticket...

I have actually been online looking at the H&R and Rossi' out there. They seem like nice guns. Lots of options for coloring ect... I think the nickel plated receiver with the blued barrel is a nice contrast. Does anyone know where I could get a stock fitted for my son? I thought that Greentop might have something...

davasmith,

Are you still looking? I have an H&R single, a Stoeger side-by-side and a Sizemaster 77 press. If you're interested, give me a call at 540-455-3580.
