Monthly IDPA Match at Silver Eagle in Ashburn

I went to check this out tonight. They had 2 time slots (5pm & 7pm). Good group of shooters, nice facility. If you are interested in this sport this is a good location for it.

I've just started getting into IPDA. Some questions about the matches at SEG. How many shooters seem to be at each time slot? Which time slot would be better for an IDPA noob? How many stages are set up? Do you have to be an IDPA member? etc.

Any additional info, or other places that host IDPA matches would be helpful.

So sorry that I missed this posting. I'm gonna post the message so that others can get the 411. They run two flights (A & B) with one starting at like 5:30pm and the other at 7:30 or so. The A group was only about 6 folks, the B group was probably about 8. The A group seemed to be for the newer shooters whereas the later group was a bit more experienced.

I don't think you have to be a member, but there is a match fee (I think it's $30 but don't quote me on that).

They have multiple time slots, I think 5 to 6, 6 to 7, and 7 to 8, but dont quote me on this. They used to be first wed of the month, but are now first monday of the month. The next date is 11/2. The time slots generally fill up quickly, so I call about 2 weeks in advance to get into a slot. I'm in the 5 o'clock slot for the next one. The cost is $25, pay when you get there, dont have to be a member. Their number is 703-723-5173

Blue Ridge Arsenal also has matches. They are on the 2nd wed of the month. Their next one is 11/11, I'm in the 6 o'clock slot there. They also have multiple time slots, similar to SEG. Call early to get into a slot at BRA, cost is $20, pay in advance there. I try and book next month's slot after I'm done with the match. Their number is 703-818-0230.
