Where I carry

Post by LOUD »

I carry a Glock 27 all the time , I never carry openly , that just draws more attention to the fact that Im armed , No one has ever detected that I was armed. I carry everywhere except at work and when i go to my lodge( Im a Mason) If you see me on the street and know me you dont have to wonder if Im armed. I had rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Of course I have a CHP but I dont worry about what bussiness doesnt want firearms on site , this weapon is for my safety and the safety of the general public around me , so I neednt worry with such . As for being a law abiding citizen for the most part I am but just remember " it is better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6"....... LOUD:pistol:

you have a lot to learn about the absence of sympathy from jurors when it comes to what most people deem "The hero complex"

Yup. Much better to evaluate a situation, react accordingly, and let hero chips fall where they may. You never know how this could bite you. Tomorrow you might save the life of 15 innocent bystanders by plugging a BG. The young overzealous prosecutor finds this post and creates you into "a man looking for trouble and fantasizing himself to be a civilian savior of ordinary citizens..."

So, carry rights are absolute... but property owners rights are like the sound of flies buzzing? I guess that was the intent of the original post.

Well, there are carry rights, and there are carry laws. I think it boils down to whether or not the property in question is public or private. Private property owners are free to allow, or not allow, carry on their property. I've heard that carrying on private property where carry is otherwise prohibited by notice of the property owner can constitute trespass.

You heard correctly. http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504 ... d+18.2-119

I carry a HK USP Compact 9mm, or a Dan Wesson CBOB all the time. I always carry openly; it almost always brings attention to the fact I'm armed, but not everyone notices. I carry everywhere except at work (Federal property in Maryland), on most property where prohibited, and in the water. If you see me on the stree you dont have to wonder if Im armed... as it should be obvious. That's the point - deterrence. I had rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I have a CHP but I've never used it. My weapon is for my safety and that of the people I feel comfortable protecting.

While I'm sure it's a topic subjective to opinion and personal experience, I can appreciate the arguments for one type of carry being more advantageous than another. That said, I carry concealed about 90% of the time when I'm carrying, which is occasionally on weekends (we really don't go out much - general impatience with and dislike of the general public  ) or during the evening hours when I have to go out. I've found this to be the least stressful option (for me (I just don't want the attention), and for those around me) up here in NoVA.
