NO to KAGAN<<<>>> Call WEBB/WARNER
This is a copy of an email VCDL is sending out to it's members,I am posting it here for the benefit of non members and to urge them to contact Senators Webb and Warner, Webb is conducting a phone survery and there is a phone number in the email where you can call and give them your objections to Kagan.
From VCDL:
Elana Kagan, the nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, has made statements that she does not support our Constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms. We need to make sure that all nominees are clearly pro-gun, pro-liberty, and will honor the Constitution, not change it.
As such, we need to contact our Senators - Mark Warner and Jim Webb - and urge them to opposer Kagan's nomination!
Jim Webb is taking a poll on Kagan. To let his office know of your opposition, call 804-771-2221.
Also, let's send a webmail to each of them with our opposition to Kagan (HOWEVER, call the number for Webb, TOO):
Warner: http://warner.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=Contact
Webb: http://webb.senate.gov/contact.cfm
For the topic or subject, choose "Supreme Court Nominee" for Warner and "Judiciary issues" for Webb
Suggested message:
I urge you to OPPOSE the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. Based on statements made by Ms. Kagan, she does not support our right to keep and bear arms. With our gun rights hanging by a 5 to 4 thread in the Supreme Court, we do not need another activist, anti-liberty judge on the highest court in the land.
Please let me know what you are going to do.

I will write a letter, sign it, and mail it. We don't need a partisan politician with an agenda other than following the Constitution on the High Court.
However, both Warner and Webb, being Democrats, will of course vote for her.

God himself could tell those two not to vote for her, and they'd do it anyway.

I agree with all of you it is probably useless to expect either of the trained dummies ( Senators)to vote in our best interest, That said I like to bug em and let them know we are watching and the will be unemployed come their next election cycle. The voters (US) have a long memory and will remember to vote both of these Obamaites the hell out of office as is their due for the screwings they have caused us and the incompetent handling of both foreign and domestic affairs following the Great Egotist,O BS>

A copy of the canned response from sheep #1,,funny when you read his description for his voting habits ,it right away makes me ask then Why the hell did you vote for Sotomayer?
From Webb's office:
"Thank you for contacting my office regarding President Obama's nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.
As you may know, on May 10, 2010 Elena Kagan was nominated by President Obama to fill an upcoming vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court. Currently her confirmation is pending in the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary, where her nomination is under review. During the administrations both of Presidents Bush and Obama, I have voted for presidential nominees only when I believe they possess the knowledge, skill, and experience necessary to serve effectively in the position for which they have been nominated. I will continue to evaluate all nominations in accordance with this standard, and will weigh your views and the views of other Virginians in the process.
Thank you once again for contacting me and my staff on this important matter. I hope that you will continue to share your views with us in the years ahead.
I would also invite you to visit my website at www.webb.senate.gov for regular updates about my activities and positions on matters that are important to Virginia and our nation.
Thank you once again for contacting my office.
Sincerely,
Jim Webb
United States Senator"

So from this as with all responses that I have received as well are CANNED and VAGUE to the point of NON-COMITMENT is that what the rest of you get out of this? I am sure the response that Warner sends back will be almost the same gibberish.VBshooter wrote:A copy of the canned response from sheep #1,,funny when you read his description for his voting habits ,it right away makes me ask then Why the hell did you vote for Sotomayer?

Sorry I am so cynical but these 2 have no desire to vote based off the feedback from the people they represent and will vote along party lines, which means that they will vote for her.

Re: NO to KAGAN<<<>>> Call WEBB/WARNER
As was said above, it's probably a waste of packets or paper to voice our opinions to the Senators. However, I have sent them my thoughts Kagan and am awaiting the typical canned response. The thing of it is that we MUST waste packets (and our time) to send the message to the Hill that we, The People (remember us? Yoooo Hoooo
), are not happy.
It sickens me to watch the campaigns as they roll thru the big cities and cow-tow to the liberals hiding there-in. If I were to run for office my bus route would be as far away from Richmond, Roanoke, and the other big cities as possible. You'd find me at the BBQ Ranch outside of Harrisonburg, the Five Guys in Culpeper, or the 4H expo in Grundy. THOSE are the places where real America lives. And real Americans have no use for Kagan.

The ones I have gotten from Warner are even worse ,,almost like a shrug off with prissy little comments about how he will pretty much do as he damn well pleases... I hope he is enjoying his first and last term as a Senator.

If you truly want to "engage" them then do not send e-mail -- CALL THEM and demand to speak to you rep or senator. Those e-mailboxes are big and yours will indeed get lost in the shuffle. A phone call (or two or three) wont. Encourage your friends and family to do the same...

I sent in my objections to Kagan, and still have not heard anything back. Of course, for all I know their form letters are caught in a spam filter. I seriously do not expect personalized correspondence on this.
I may try to call today, but I was never able to get beyond the poor folks answering the phones the last time I tried that.

Re: NO to KAGAN<<<>>> Call WEBB/WARNER
Looks like the vote has been delayed. The GOP still does not care to take this all the way; their interests are only to make Obama look bad (like that is necessary at this point). However, the NRA may start running ads targetted at certain Senators in addition to the general national advertising that they are already doing.

From what I've seen and heard ,, both of our illustrious Boneheads will vote YES< I have posted Webbs letter that I received and Warner was pretty much a waste of time to even bother reading, I think Webb knows he is in deep S&%$ and is making things up to look like he is carefully evaluating the situatuon before caves to the Obama machines charm..Warner figures he has a good cushion of yearsw and all will be forgotten by election time.,Not a chance this time Markie!!!

Re: NO to KAGAN<<<>>> Call WEBB/WARNER
The response you got from Webb sounds canned. I wonder if he tries to be cagey about these things, or if his staffers are simply clueless. When the national reciprocity vote was going on, I called his DC office to voice my support for it and ask how Webb was gonna vote. The staffer said Webb had not made up his mind. As soon as I got off the phone I turned on C-SPAN and there was Webb on the floor of the Senate urging the other Senators to vote for it. That staffer was clueless. I hope he votes no on Kagan, but I'm not betting on it.VBshooter wrote:From what I've seen and heard ,, both of our illustrious Boneheads will vote YES< I have posted Webbs letter that I received and Warner was pretty much a waste of time to even bother reading, I think Webb knows he is in deep S&%$ and is making things up to look like he is carefully evaluating the situatuon before caves to the Obama machines charm..Warner figures he has a good cushion of yearsw and all will be forgotten by election time.,Not a chance this time Markie!!!

Re: NO to KAGAN<<<>>> Call WEBB/WARNER
Webb is doing some things as of late that fall in line with that train of thought.. He has a HotLIne to call to voice opinion on Kgans Nomination (Yeh like he'll pay attention) trying to look as if he;s concerned, BS,, He knows he's toast come 2012 when his election comes up along with the pied piper of Democrats Obama. Heis attempting damage control early in an attempt to salvage his job. I wonder what low life crap he;ll attempt to pull on his opponent this time.

Not to be mean, but do you really think it matters to Warner, and Webb? They're both so entrenched up Obama's keister, they're ignoring their constituents.

No meaness there ,,I know full damn well that neither of these two pathetic pukes in Obamas stooge fest gives a flying crap about what I or any other citizen has to say. That said, it is always good to continue to contact them so that when we throw their useless butts out of office ,they'll at least have a clue as to why.
