Post by acguy45 »

Cabela's is having they're $5.00 shipping on all orders over $150 until the 20th of July. They also have TULA .223 Ammo for $3.79/20. A 1,000 rnd case is $194.50 out the door. Its ok ammo comparable with WOLF if your rifle isn't finnicky about steel cas ammo it is minute of coke can accurate. Just figured i would pass it along.

That is a good sale price, but places like http://www.ammoman.com sell Wolf 223 for $239/1000 shipped.

This is good advice when shooting steel cased ammo: http://www.longislandfirearms.com/forum/m-1259121831/
*I should clarify. the steel ammo is dirty and does not expand in your chamber like brass. So the chamber gets dirtier faster. If you then fire brass, which does expand in the chamber, all the fouling will make the case stick in the chamber. So if you are firing brass and steel cases, either shoot all the brass first, or clean your chamber before switching from steel to brass
This sums up the differences between the various Russian brands: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=483334
There is a difference in manufacturers. 1) Wolf blackbox = Tula, which always seems under powered and inconsistant. 2) Wolf Mil Classic used to = Ulyanovsk, which used the 8M3 bullet that fragged. Ulyanvosk tends to be hotter and more consistant that the Tula/BB offering. Now it's been rumored there's no difference in BB and MC so it's probably all Tula. 3) All Bear ammo and Monarch = Barnual (with zinc and copper washed as an option), which I have found again to be more consistant and hotter than Tula/BB. Their .223 have actually been chronoed at 5.56 velocities.

So in summary:
Wolf = crap/blasting ammo if nothing else is available, IMO, unless you can find Uly/MC
Uly = with 8M3 bullet is a good SHTF round
Barnaul = better than Wolf at at about the same price, is usually available so a good practice round.
Also, Cabela's notes that heavy items don't get the $5 shipping. FYI, it looks like they want to charge $18.95 for shipping and the price is now $214.99/1000 (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... hasJS=true)

Ah, I figured it out.

50x 20rnd boxes is $189.50 + $16.95S&H = $206.45

If you buy the 500rnd packs (2x) it is $214.99 + $18.95S&H = $233.94

There probably is a packaging difference (loose boxes vice container, which may be sealed?).

yup thats it i ordered them loose . the last time I ordered them they came bubble wrapped in bundles depending on how many boxes you order.

decent cheap blasting ammo,If your gun likes them ( mine does) then after the range clean the weapon. a coke can doesn't know the difference between them. if the cans shoot Back then arm yourself appropriately. happy Shooting.
